Does it matter if you use a TA when trying to get code rates? In other words, I booked my trip through AAA travel agency...if I see a good rate come up with a disney club code or non-disney club code in the next few months, can I call Disney myself and try to get the lower price? When I called Disney and asked them, they said it would not be a problem. Just tell them I want to make a change with the new rates.

Does that seem right to you? AAA travel agency goes through Disney travel, so I imagine it shouldn't make a difference. What do you think?

thanks...this board is wonderful! :)

If you go through a travel agent. Your travel agent will have to make the chances to your reservation.

As long as there is availability, they should be able to change your reservation.

Travel agents can and should use available codes to make your reservations. Using a "Disney Specialist" TA will help in this regard. Disney is reluctant to make changes with the guest directly when the original reservation was made through a TA. You should try to either do it all yourself or work entirely through the TA.

What I meant in my original post was does Disney still honor the codes even though a reservation was made through AAA, etc.?

In other words, I booked through AAA for their special package and then I see a DC code (or other code on mousesavers that I would normally qualify for), if my travel agent (not me) calls Disney, will they still honor the new, lower price?

I called Disney about this already and they said yes, assuming availability, they would go ahead and honor the lower price. (You know how you can get 20 different answers from people at Disney though, lol...just wanted to hear the experts' opinions - you guys!)

Thank you :)

Your TA would have to rebook your pkg. The discount codes are a limited number so the TA will have to check to see if it is available then book it again. If you have booked a pkg the codes are normally just for rooms, pkgs are set prices and wont change if discounts are offered.
AAA pkgs are discounted compared to the ones offered from DTC.

Since in reality you will be making a new reservation when you book a code, go ahead and do it yourself. Your TA will likely have to cancel the original reservation. The other option, is to have your TA call and make the "code" reservation.
