I have about 2,000 questions for all of you "Disney pros"but will limit this post to only 1 or 2. I have booked my first disney 4 night resort 3 night cruise with a travel agent. Figured this would be the best way the first time. We will be arriving in Florida on 8/16/03 and will spend the first week visiting friends. Then its off to CBR for 4 days. We figure we do not need a full week to visit so I am thinking about making reservations at another resort for the 2 days preceeding our CBR stay. We want to spend the whole time at the resort relaxing and letting the kids swim before going to CBR and visiting the parks. First question. Should I book the additional 2 nights at the CBR or try a new park? They are all new since I have never been to any of them. If a new park, then which one. I know this is subjective and expect many different answers but it should be best for the kids. They are 2 girls age 8 and 11. Also, what are these codes I keep seeing? Please explain. Thanks for the help. Oh, I almost forgot. I have not seen anyone going on the 3 night Wonder on 8/28/03. Do you guys know something I dont know? Who else is going?

Best information about codes..... the queen of codes....

I would also suggest spending the additional 2 days at AKL. It's an incredible resort and definitely one for relaxing. If you book a savannah view room, the kids can sit on the balcony overlooking the savannah of animals. The pool is also incredible!!

Welcome to the Dis! Did you know there is another board just for Cruise infromation right here on the dis? Be sure to visit over there, they can tell you all kinds of GREAT information just about the ship. I think you have the opportunity to book the Swan/Dolphin for a very low rate(I think it used to be $99) for nights after the cruise. If so go for it they are great hotels and in a wonderful location. You can walk to Epcot form them! Have fun planning!:)

Have you thought about how hard it may be to keep your kids from wanting to go to the parks those 2 days...if you stay on site they will begin to catch the Disney fever and be begging you to go to the parks...if you do not want to buy passes to allow entry for the additional 2 days maybe you might want to consider universal studios for those extra days before heading out to disney, or perhaps the beach..just a thought. i couldn't imagine taking my two girls onto disney property on then telling them we are going to enjoy the pool/resort for 2 days and then go see Mickey!:p But, you know your kids better than I. Good Luck. We love POR, they have a fun pool, boats to DD, fishing, bikes..lots to keep them busy if you can convince them ....

We are staying close by the first week and plan on doing Universal or Sea World or both. No matter where we go on vacation, all the kids want to do is swim. They have each been to MK 4 0r 5 times each and all they wanted to do was go back to the hotel and swim. Me and hubby are more excited about the parks than the kids. This being said, which resort has the coolest pool/waterslide. This could help waiver my decision. Dont get me wrong, the kids also love the parks and we did not have to twist their arms to go. I think I just gave birth to fish.

It depends on a few things. What is your budget? Do you have enough for a deluxe resort? If so, I would suggest the Beach Club. You also might think about looking into the Beach Club Villas (which would allow you to go to Storm-Along-Bay, the Beach Club resorts pool) by renting points from a DVC member (if they are available - I rented in January for a December trip). There is a board here on this site where you can rent points.

Is your budget kinda tight but you need a place for the kids to swim? How about staying at one of the All Stars (or even CBR) and going to the water parks? If you go to both, you might want to go to Blizzard Beach before Typhoon Lagoon - my kids liked Typhoon Lagoon better.

Or, if you want the whole theme to work for you but be a little bit away, Animal Kingdom Lodge (as suggested above) is a great choice, and so is Wilderness Lodge. If you choose Wilderness Lodge, check out the Electrical Water Pageant (around 9:45) as well as the bon fire next door at Fort Wilderness.

There are a lot of options for you, it depends on what appeals the most.

My two sisters very rarely venture into the parks when they stay at CBR. They love to sit around the pool or on the beach. CBR is a great resort is you want to just swim and hang out for a couple of days.
