Hey all, just a quick question. I have not flown since 2000, and am flying down in 16 days. How will the Code Orange increase the airport security? We will be flying from Philadelphia, with a 5:45 flight on a Friday night? Any info, anyone??:confused:

TIA, Deb::MinnieMo

They may be inspecting more luggage at the security checkpoint. The police may be inspecting cars in the parking lot.

If you can check your bags, be prepared for a slightly longer wait to get through security, take your shoes off, etc. you will be fine.

You may want to put your stuff in ziploc bags in case it is searched to make it easier.

I fly all the time and other than it takes longer really nothing much changes when the security alert goes up.

I agree 100% with safetymom. The one other thing to be aware of is that 5:45 pm at Philly can be very busy since it is peak time for business travelers to make their way home. I have seen tremendous security lines at this airport (my least favorite!) so budget your time wisely.

We were not planning on checking our bags on the way down, just carry on. We are planning on getting to the airport between 3:30 and 4, due to work schedules. Do you think this will be enough time? I just checked my ticket, and the flight leaves at 5:35 , not 5:45. They should begin boarding around 5, don't you think?

Actually, now that I think of it, we are planning on leaving home by 2:30. This will put us at the airport around 3:20.

Thanks again,

In this tiime of heightened security, I think you would be better off checking your bags and take minimal carryons, there are limits to carryon and they will most probably be enforcing them big time. It will get you through security faster and will make the other pax move faster too. Use the skycap, that is more than worth the tip. They can usually issue your boarding pass and then all you have to do is clear security.

I agree about checking your luggage. With the higher security level they will be looking closely at carry ons. If you want to do that then allow extra time.
