Why are so many people on her complaining about the pin codes? I have been on this board for nearly 3 years and have never witnessed so many threads and posts about people so upset over the codes.

We received a code for the first time ever. Would I have liked to have received on before? Yes but I never came in here complaingin about not getting one.

I don't get it. :confused3

A couple reasons:

1.Many of us are a bit upset about the fact that we never get codes depsite being on every Disney mailing list there is. And this was a big one - 40% your resort stay. I'm staying at the Wilderness Lodge in December. Am I a bit upset that the person staying in the room next to me will be paying $1,000 less for the week for the same room - Sure am.

2.The confusion at Disney CRO. Ever since Disney started sending these pin codes out there's always been confusion as to whether you may or may not have a pin code attached to your name. Just because you don't get a postcard or email doesn't mean you don't have one. So, people have been calling to find out and have been getting different stories from different CM's, and quite frankly, have been treated very rudely.

I don't think there's anything wrong with coming here to "complain" about it. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't have a money tree in the backyard, so yes - To save some money would be very nice. What doesn't bother or annoy one person may bother or annoy someone else.

As I said earlier - This is a BIG promotion. Alot of times, the discount or perk being offered won't help everybody, suit their needs, meet their resort requirement, or be that much of a break. This one was huge and would benefit ANYONE.

I am still pretty new here. So to me, I don't know any different, I guess. But I came to this board for a search for a "discount". I am just amazed at how some people get them, and others don't. For no reason at all. I have never recieved any PINs and I have been on a mailing list since 2000. Now I never had a trip palnned in that time to go, but it would've been nice torecieve something. And now that we are going, it just seem fari that someone who is staying the same amount of time at the same hotel saves a couple hundred bucks! I did find a pretty good deal through AAA. But I had called one before that ( a different agent, and got no better a deal than Disney gave). I think it all depens on who you talk to. Which is sad. Some people want to help people, while others don't, or don't care. Perhaps there comission will be less.

You will always have people paying different rates. It will depend on how the trip was purchased. AAA/CAA members have always received discounts; buying rooms on Expedia will get you a reduced rate. I fail to see the difference.

I agree with the OP. People here act as if they are ENTITLED to these PIN codes. Then they whine if there is not one attached to their name.

I just made reservations for Dec 07. I asked about a pin code, and I did have one, but it expires in Jun 07. No, I did not change my dates--We want to go in December. I was able to apply AAA discount, though.

If I am entitled to a discount, I am all for it. But I can't believe the anger (jealousy) that some people here are showing. Frankly, I find it a little childish.

Eh....very simple - sour grapes.;)

To the people so upset, get over it...seriously....life isn't always fair.:)

Oh, there's a HUGE difference.

AAA and travel clubs are something that people pay to belong to. Like being an Annual Passholder. You pay for those, and that's why you receive certain discounts.

These pin code discounts are just sent out randomly, directly from Disney, to people who don't belong to any special clubs and aren't paying anything more than anyone else.

Let me put it this way:

Best Buy - I'm sure you're familiar with it. They have something called the Bst Buy Reward Zone card. You pay for membership, and after spedning so much money, you get discounts off of merchandise throughout the year. I'm in line behind a guy buying the same DVD player I am, and he's paying less BECAUSE he has this card and has earned the points, no problem. I'm behind a guy who doesn't have one of these cards and is paying less for the same DVD player just because Best Buy happened to send him a special discount code - I don't think so. And it would never happen. Yet, Disney DOES do this.

Travel has been booked on these same principles from the beginning of time, LOL!

Staying in a hotel...good chance the guy in the next room didn't pay the same rate.

Renting a car.....the guy in front of you at the counter? different rate.

Cruising...ditto

Flying....same thing!

This is not a disney thing....its a travel thing. There may be a different method but every part of the travel industry works the same way.

I have been going to WDW since 2000. Over 20 trips and at least 3 planned this year alone....over the years (since finding the dis) I have never paid rack rate, but never received a postcard/email. Just got one this week for the first time....can't explain it. Did nothing different....my number just came up.

I think you're missing the point.

Not sure about anyone else, but my biggest gripe isn't not getting a pin code. I've never gotten one, and certainly don't plan my trips around them. My gripe is the way Disney handles these, or better yet, doesn't handle these. There's mass confusion, and noone gives you the same answer. '

As we've seen, just because you don't get a postcard doesn't mean you don't have a pin attached to your name. Not sure about you, but I'm not so wealthy that I can just say "Eh, it's not worth calling to save an extra $1,000." Now, if Disney DID send out the pin to everyone that has it, then no problem - These calls and all this confusion would be avoided. Disney sets the rules and policies - We're all just playing along the way they set it up.

More than that, it's the rudeness Disney CRO talks to you with. That's unexcusable.

Looks like you've stayed on Disney property 3 times. Once you've hit your 10th or 11th time and never received one of those emails, it'll make a bit more sense to you.

I think Disney has sent them out to everyone who has them. The problem is where they send it to. Maybe its an old address, or wrong address. Many have reported errors in email accounts, old email accounts, or finding them in a spam filter. In my case part of my address is wrong...luckily the mail carrier is a regular and brought it anyways or I wouldn't have known til I called and checked with everyone else.

I had to wait for over 20 times before I got one....I get the frustration. I just think that the anger towards Disney is not warranted. Honestly its like everything....if you don't have an understanding of the process it is difficult to understand what you see on the surface. There are many logical reasons for what has happened and it is understandable how it has gotten a bit out of hand.

I've stayed plenty of times over my entire life. Never received a pin code....and I don't think amount of times stayed on property has much to do with "make a bit more sense". I mean, maybe they should make it into a you've stayed X times you get the prize deal. Even if you had stayed only three times I am sensing you would still be angry.

It is different for everyone. 40% off is a big deal but am I going to lose sleep over it or spend my day writing on a message board to complain about it? Nah, I'd rather plan out my ADR's.

People pay different rates all the time......get over it.

I can certainly understand why someone who has never gotten a code would be a bit upset about never receiving one. Especially when there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to how they are distributed. When I got my first pin code, I really thought it was because I had only stayed on site once. I figured they wanted me to return.

Of course, we are all adults and we all realize that you can't always have a code. I would love one for this 40% off promotion, but I did not receive one. Because of all the "hysteria" on this board, I am very reluctant to call and check.

What does bother me is that there seems to be so much inconsistency between the way codes are applied. It depends to a large degree on the CM. To make matters worse, there are reports of codes being applied and then taken away. To me, that is worse than not receiving one.

I believe that some of the problem lies with Disney's inconsistency, but I believe these boards are also compounding the problem. If everyone is calling one, two, three, four times, ect to check on a code, it is tying up manpower and it adds to the system's confusion. It also adds to the overall disappointment and frustration. The "whisper down the lane" effect also contributes to the confusion. He said, she said..... It's just too much.

My take - I think I'll just chill until I see a public code come out. I would love to save $, but I can't see going through all the anxiety that this situation is producing. That is just not fun!

and would any of us know about this pin code deal if it weren't for people coming here telling about it? A pin code should be like a sprinkling of pixie dust when you call in to make your reservations. Now we have people calling in to see if they have a code attached to their name.

I have let Disney know about it. Not about not receiving the discount. As I've said many times, I don't have a real issue with that. I have an Annual Pass and I get AP discounts that save just as much. I just don't like the way I'm talked to by CRO.

As for you not losing sleep, neither am I. If you don't want to complain about it, then don't. But don't think you have the right to tell other people how they should feel.

Again, bevause that's the way Disney set it up. It's well known that not everyone that has a pin attached to their name gets the email or postcard.

Hey, if an extra $1,000 means nothing to you, congrats. To me, it's quite a nice chunk of change and certainly worth memaking a couple of calls to find out about.

No one is forcing anyone to go to DisneyWorld and spend their hard earned money. I guess if they are really *mad* at Disney, perhaps they shouldn't go. A vacation can't be fun if you feel ripped off :sad1:

Congrats to those who get codes and discounts :)
