I called today and asked if there was a code attached to my name and was told that it can't work like that--that I have to know the code, they can't look to see if one is attached to my name. Did I get a CM who knows what she's talking about? or did I get a CM who doesn't know what she's talking about? I thought I'd read posts from people who called up were able to be told if they had a code associated with their name or not. This CM wouldn't say anything. :confused3

Is there a proper way to phrase my request which would have worked better?

And w/o a toll-free number, I'm not as anxious to call and wait on hold anymore.....

sounds like you got someone who doesnt know or didnt care to look. Are you signed up to the disney world website? Sign up for e-mails and info.I called and checked. Dh had one but there was no record of my name. The nice CM added my info. The code wasnt good for the days we wanted. Try again

I agree, I call about once a month to check on codes for me and DH and I have never had a problem. No codes for me yet, good luck to you.

i called yesterday and they said that if i did not get a mail or email code, there would be nothing attached to my phone #.

From what I understood when I called to check you do have to know the code, but you can have a pin # attached to your name that they can check on. I actually had 2 pin #s, but if I didn't ask they would not have told me. I could be wrong, but that's what I understood.

I think the problem is Disney Cms have been cracking down on the code question phone calls. Some Cms will still look for you .Others will tell you" it does not work that way" or "I am not allowed to tell you that".I have called upteen million times since December and each time i get a totally different answer depending on the Cm.I don't thinkI have ever had the same CM twice.Try calling back, but be prepared to have any array of answers from the Cm.

That's silly... don't they realize that people don't necessarily get all of their mail and/or e-mails?

And yeah... maybe it does make a difference whether you call it a code or a pin. I expect that since right now their dealing with free dining and they were probably told that they weren't allowed to give the code to anybody who didn't already know it, then when you asked if there was a code attached to your name they thought you were looking for a code, not a pin, and gave you the generic "if you don't know what it is, we can't help you" spiel.

I would try again.

I ask every time I call. I have never had a CM not check for me. Most have even checked to see if there was a code or pin attached to my husband's name (who is a part of our traveling party). Most tell me to just keep checking back as codes and pins are distributed all the time.

so i guess i will keep trying, i really want to get something to book this fall. What happens if there is a code attached to my hubby but he doesn't go? We are planning a short girly trip? Can i still book it under his name, as the spouse?

So how should I phrase the question? Do I ask the CM to see if there's a "pin attached to my name?" Is that the right way to say it? It sounds so weird....

Say something like "I was wondering if I had a code or pin attached to my name, I think I may have missed the promotional e-mail or post card."

Heres how it works: CM's have to check if you ask if theres a PIN or code attached to your household. When that call gets monitored she will have to answer to that. Now if you call asking what kind of special offers they have for you than NO, they dont have to tell you. You have to ask for a specific offer.

"Hey Im planning a trip in July and I need to check if theres a pin attached to my household" YES
"Hey Im planning a trip in July, what kind of special discounts are you running?" NO
