Not sure where to post this but I am looking for guidance on Cocoa Beach area for my DB's family. They have two twin boys that will be almost 6 and are planning to spend 5 nights in Cocoa Beach area prior to 8 nights in Disney in October.

They are looking for a hotel with a nice kids pool area that's on or close to the beach. Any recommendations?

Any recommendations on good places to eat and also activities and entertainment?

We will be joining them for the Disney portion of their vacation.

I am not a USA. person BUT I do have relations who live in Cocoa Beach.

I have no idea of where you live or how they are arriving in Cocoa Beach.

One to two nights is enough ... Why ? .Well there is not much to do except the beach .

It is on The Atlantic so the water is not warm & could have smallish waves .... with pulling Out

undercurrent ... Respect the Sea ...is the motto.

Yes Kennedy Space Center is nearby BUT that is only a full day trip ..... still only 2 nights stay.

Hotel ... there are a few Four Points by Sheraton ( next to Ron Jon's surf shop ) & a Best Western are good

Again 2 nights stay is enough at Cocoa Beach before it gets Boring
..........

My Advice is for them to Stay on The GULF Coast for the 5 nights far more to do & the water is warmer .

The Holiday Inn @ Port Canaveral has a nice water park that our kids loved to play in. There is a waterslide, lazy river and a pool with a swim up bar for the adults. It is also just a short walk to the beach. There are a few restaurants in the area as well at a place called the cove. We ate at Fish Lips and it was a great place. We sat upstairs outside and watched the Disney cruise ship leave port, it passed right in front of use.

Anyplace else nice to see the cruise ships sail out of Port?

Anyone else have advice?

I realize 5 nights is a bit much for a stay in cocoa Beach.

There are a couple of other hotels further up the road from the Port, but not sure how great the view would be of the ships leaving or returning. I'm pretty sure, 90% anyway, that they sail straight out of the Port, they don't make a turn and sail past Cocoa Beach, maybe off in the distance but then it would be hard to make out which cruise line it is. There is also Jetty Park, which is a campground and that would be closer to the ships as they leave/return.

Nope they do not sail straight out. We watch them with family sometimes at Lori Wilson park and that is South of Rt 520. It is a little ways out of course but you definitely can tell which are the Disney Cruise lines. We even have pictures of the kids in the water with the ships that sail Sunday at 4 in the background. I would say definitely drive out to the port to see the ships, coast guard ships, cargo ships. You can park and watch them leave from there or at Jetty Park.

Coming to the Space Coast is different than a lot of places because we do not stay in one town and do everything in 1 town, the whole area is our playground.
5 nights in Cocoa Beach with twin 6 year olds should be a blast as long as you have a car and want to see what Brevard County has to offer. My nieces and nephews love just bein at the hotel pool and on the beach every year.

1. The water temperature in Cocoa Beach in October will still be almost 80 degrees. The kids will want to spend time playing in the water. Bring or buy some sand toys because they will love making castles with moats. Also buy or rent a couple of bodyboards for them to play in the water. We always bring a bat and wiffle ball, football, etc. too.
2. There are waves and they may be a little rougher in October or could be like a lake depending on whether there is a storm system out there. One good thing in the Cocoa Beach area we find that the bottom is a little more regular meaning there is not as many drop offs close to the shore as farther South. It is also sandy beaches and the reef that runs along the coast is not a problem there. You might want to spend a day at theCocoa Beach pier beach. Westgate owns the pier now and has shops and reastaurants. You will see surfers at that beach. Also go to Ron Jons. You can spend hours there looking at all the stuff they sell. Great place for pictures there, too. You could even rent surfboards and take a day lesson . Lori Wilson beach park has a cool nature path.
3. Go to the Space Center for a Day. It is really interesting on the tour, but they also have fun things for the kids to do. There is a playground and a water play area where the water spurts up out of the ground. Watch for alligators in the ditches/canals along the road. on Space Center property as you drive in to the Visitors Center.
4. Check out Canaveral National Seashore. You have to go to Titusville to get the bridge to get out there. A block before you get to the bridge is Space View park on the river. If you watched shuttle launches they always showed the crowd from there. It has mouments from every era of US space. They have molds of many of the astronauts hands to measure your own against there, too. In addition to the beach, Canaveral Beach has a great Widlife trail that you drive through slowly to see the mangrocves, marsh, and all the wildlife. If you do go we like parking in the first beach access because you can see gantries etc. ffrom the sand.
5. A little farther to drive but well worth a day trip. Sebastion Inlet State Park. South on A1A from Cocoa Beach. You will go past Patrick airforce Base so watch for planes out on the tarmac as you go by. Check out some of the beaches on the way. Paradise Beach has a big playground and Canova Beach(at the end of Eau Gallie Causeway) has the reef exposed at low tide. Spend the rest of the day at Sebastian Inlet . Probably see some surfing and lots of fishermen on the pier and jetty. My guys like to walk to the end. There is a fishing bridge that goes over the inlet itself and it is cool looking down into the water and watching boats come in or out to the ocean. On the West side of the park is a large tide pool that is fun for little ones to play in without waves. You might even want to get a reservation that night for dinner at the Disney Vero Beach Resort which is down the road a little ways. BTW the restaurant at Sebastian Inlet has pretty good food.
6. Come down to Melbourne and go to Andretti Park.(go carts. mini golf, games) While in the area go to the Bass Pro Shop. Outside are alligators and wild hogs to see. It is called the Stick Marsh Outlet. as the wall fish tank with local kinds of fish.
7. How bought deep sea fishing or a dolphin cruise on the river? Check out Miss Cape Canaveral for a 1/2 day on the ocean.
8. Mini golf? Lighthouse Cove, Jungle Village, or Golf and Gator.
9. Brevard Zoo off I-95 in Viera.
10. Air boat ride
11, Head up to Christmas, Florida and take a picnic to Fort Christmas. My guys loved it there. Has a good playground, old village buildings and the fort.
12. Just have some fun while here....feel free to ask questions or pm me if you want.

We have stayed at The Resort on Cocoa Beach several times. You will have full kitchen which is nice with small kids. Water play area, inside playground area, movie theater, right on the beach.
