This year,we'll be spending 5 days at USF/IOA and then over to Cocoa Beach for another 5 days at Christmas time.I'm interested in knowing any good restaurants at Cocoa Beach. Also, what will be open Christmas day?

We always eat at Marlins on the Cocoa Beach Pier and have never been disapointed. We even drove over from Orlando for the day on our last rip and spent time at the beach, Ron Jons and then dinner at the Pier. The Coconut shrimp is excellent as is the shrimp with linguini. My kids love the Sonic Boom drinks and the hot wings. It is not fancy but very good food.

I'm sorry to jump into this thread--but THANK YOU!!. And also for the person who posted the thread to begin with. I have asked before about Marlins, and nobody answered. We are going to cocoa beach for day, well 1/2 day doing KSC first, and I wanted to eat at Marlins on the Pier. How is the scenery from the resturant, do you see much of the ocean??. I am pleased to see this thread. Thanks again. Any more helpful hints for the beach would be great!!. PS: What is Ron Jons??? I thougth I saw something about it being a surf shop or something. Thanks again.

Give a try at Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty located at 2200 South Orlando Ave. A local we met at the CVS gave us this info. We had lunch there twice and it was pretty good. Have fun!

Sorry I didn't answer your questions sooner and I never saw your other post or I would have responded. We love Marlins! The view is great, you are right over the water and can see surfers, swimmers, boats ect. Ron Jon's is a huge surf shop. My kids get t-shirts, sweatshirts, keychains, stickers ect. I got a can cooler and a decal for my car window. Its a neat store to visit and you won't see your t-shirt( probably) on another person which is what my family likes. Its a good place to get little gifts for their friends. We went swimming right at the public beach by the Pier and then just changed in our van. There are showers underneath the Pier to rinse off the sand. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn years ago and the beach and pool there were wonderful but I keep hearing how awful it is now.

We are excited to go to beach. We are staying onsite at Disney, and only renting car for day to do KSC/Cocoa. This is our first time going to Florida, so all of this will be new to us, and with way MN weather is right now, by end of Jan we will be ready to leave here for 10 days. :) thanks again and if our kids run into each other sometime -- would be a coinsident if they were both wearing a shirt from Ron JOn's. I get a shirt every new place we go and then when my daughter is a senior I am having a quilt made from the shirts for her to take with when she moves out. :) You have a magical day and stay warm!!!

What a marvelous idea. I would love to have quilts made for each of my children like that. Unfortunately I didn't hear about it until they were 12, 11, and 1½ yrs. old. Of course, I can still do that for the baby since our trip in late November is the first vacation she will have gone on. Thanks for the great idea!

Your Very, Very welcome. Nice to learn other fun tid-bits on these sites other than just disney. I learn LOTS from everyone here, glad to be able to help out with idea for someone else. Have a magical day. :Pinkbounc

Thanks for ALL the replies.I now have a few restaurants to look into while at Cocoa Beach.Any suggestions for Christmas dining in that area?

I was re-reading your post and since you will be there awhile I looked up some notes I made along time ago about Cocoa Beach. I wrote down the names of two reatuarants recommended by someone on the DIS and they are Zachary's for Greek food and Dixie Landings for ribs and American food. I also made the note of Airboat John's Old fashioned airboat rides if you are looking for something elswe to do. We never did it but it sounds fun. There was also a rest. advertised when we were there that is on a river and has alligators for the kids to see. I don't remember the name but they also serve alligator on their menu.
