Cocoa Beach area

DH and I are looking to explore another part of Florida (we always go to Disney and while I love it there, I think I've had enough). So we're thinking of the Cocoa Beach area. We went to KSC last year. Is there anything else worth seeing down there? We were thinking of staying in Cocoa Beach but if there isn't enough to keep us busy (just us, no kids) then I think I may move a bit further south. I just want to stay someplace different besides the Lake Buena Vista/Orlando area. I was just looking at the Brevard Zoo online which may be a place that we will want to check out.

Cocoa is a nice little area if you like a slower pace. Besides KSC to the north, there are the beaches, the dining and the boutique shopping in Cocoa village. The Brevard Zoo is nice, but if you want to see a variety of animals Animal Kingdom is where to go. The Brevard Zoo has many native to Florida animals, and their aviary is awesome, but some of the more exotic animals are missing (although they did just get some giraffes and that was a big deal here). Over on the beach, there's places to relax (although Cocoa is very touristy and crowded, maybe a little south to Melbourne would be less crowded) and you can rent boats/jet skis and have fun with that.

Ron Jon's is always a fun place to visit- it is huge and worth taking a look at. At least you can get the sticker! It isn't the original one but fun just the same!

There is also a nice little park near Cocoa village where we like to picnic. We have also spotted the Disney cruise ship on our way from Cocoa Beach to Cocoa where my mom lives. There is some great shopping there.

It's also within a "do-able" distance to the Kennedy Space Center.
