Afternoon all (it is here in the UK anyway)

We're thinking about taking a day to visit Cocoa Beach & area - is there anything/anywhere worthy of stopping off at between kissimmee and there (aside from the space centre)? you know, shops, attractions, etc...

Thanks!

Baz :goodvibes

if you take the B line over there....not much. seriously, sparcely a gas station or place to grab some grub between the orlando area and coco beach if you take the B line.

that is the most direct route and on a non shuttle launch day it shouldn't take you more than like 45 min to an hour max to get between the two points. (after a shuttle launch however.....pack your car with snacks and drinks and don't be affraid to pull over if someone has to go potty. it will take you hours - it took us at least 3.5) along that road was just darkness and lights far far off in the distance.

Yes!!! Go to potty before you get on B line. We ended up going potty in the boondocks. It is a favorite story in our house. :rotfl2:

Just nosed on Google Maps.... looks like a floridian desert lol... at least it's only just over an hour so not too bad!

Old Fashioned Air Boat Rides are located in Christmas, FL. I highly recommend them. We've done them twice and have seen so much wildlife including scads of alligators. Captain John (the owner) is the absolute BEST!!

Here is the website: http://www.airboatrides.com/index.htm

We found out about them by word of mouth and tried it one year while enroute for a day trip to Cocoa Beach. It was the highlight of the trip both years we did it.

Im interested in what there is to do at Cocoa Beach - any good places to eat? We're going to the space center for a day, and figured we'd hit the beach area for dinner, hang around. Whats to do for kids?

RON JON SURF SHOP.... It's a a huge swim shop w/lots of fun things to see. The beach is very nice, if you like waves. Also wear an old bathing suit, it seams everytime we go we get "GOOK" stains on them.

Have Fun!!

There's a lovely small public beach just behind Ron Jon's -- Alan Shepard Beach. And no gook stains in May, just warm water and fun jumping in the waves.
