Cocktail Hour

Hey Jet Fan, you going to be in a pet loop? We will be there from the 5th to the 13th

Sorry, but Florida residents have no excuse for not coming to the first FW October Fest happy hour. I see no good reason for not making a special trip down (or up, depending on your location) to FW for this event, unless of course there is a hurricane. I would expect to see you at the Kiwi with a Kungaloosh in hand.

You know you are so RIGHT!!! I'm not sure what I was thinking???:confused3
I must rethink my dates!! Maybe extend my vacation add on a few days! How wonderful! There are no excuses!! I realy need to try one of those Kungaloosh!

Hey Disney Dad in Oh, What day are you leaving???, We leave on friday, From Morrow, and arrive at the Fort on Sunday 4/1... DH, DS(12) DD(10) Heidi and DixieGSP'S will be in the Cruiser fiver with the big red ford. Stop by and say hi!

How cool..! We are leaving Bellbrook on Friday as well..! :cool1:
Taking 35 down to Great Gramdma's in Oak Hill to drop off the cat; then stopping in Wytheville, VA friday nite; driving to just south of St. Augustine on Sat. nite; then Sunday morning at the Fort. Staying until Friday 4/6.

Which way will you be traveling..? 75..?
DW, DD(9), DD(6) - and traveling with my in-laws..(they are staying at WL).

That one was for you...... intentional sarcasm at its finest :thumbsup2

lol, I figured as much, oh well, 31 years and no incidents, not everyone abuses it ;)

I too love sarcasm....heh. Let's just have fun! :)

also,
I wanted to tell Colsten39 that we're going to attempt to make some Mickey ears too. It sounds easy enough..we'll see ??

It is really simple, just buy 3 hula hoops (or anything large and circular, although hula hoops work the best). We used plastic ties to attach the hula hoops to each other in the shape of Mickey Mouse ears (around 2-3 ties per ear, they get covered by the lights so you don't see them anyways). Wrap the whole thing in lights, and make sure you start with the plug end at the bottom of the bottom circle, so that when you hang it up you just plug it in at the bottom. Oh, and test all your lights out before you put them on, because if you don't, it's a pain to unwrap them all to fix the one's you want.

Another tip is, if you take a piece of rope, and tie it in the middle of the top of the two "ear" circles (the two top hula hoops), then attach those strings to a piece of 2-3 foot board (put one rope on each end). Then just hang the ears from this board, instead of just tying rope to the ears. If you just tie them to the ears, they will have a tendency to want to fold in on themselves, especially in the wind, the board helps keep everything nice and straight, and "Mickey looking"...lol

We'll be there June 29th-July 8th. Looking for free drinks lol. Just kidding. I'm looking forward to a first 4th of July trip. Been 9 other times now and gave up the Pepsi 400 to do this. Oh well racing ain't what it used to be so who cares right. I'll take the fort over just about anything.

Will be glad to hoist a beverage or 2 with you, we arrive June 29th and leave July 8th as well, staying in a cabin. Look forward to the cart parade that day and some bbq that afternoon.:woohoo:

Colson39
thanks for the instructions on the mickey ears! pretty good timing too cause it should be fairly easy to find hola hoops with Summer right around the corner. We even have some Christmas lights we picked up on clearance this year...:cheer2:

we've added a day to the beginning of the trip (arriving on the 4th) and I'm working on my husband now for the 3rd...lol I'm hopeless :upsidedow

Sounds great. I am looking forward to my June trip and we also have Thanksgiving weekend booked too. I think in all we will be at the fort about 25 days this year. yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I am ready, willing and able to host an October Fest happy hour at FW. As I said earlier, I will be there 17-27 October and would like to know who among those going in October would like to come. So, I am gathering screen names of those interested in coming and dates they will be at FW so that I can organize this. So line up, post your dates and let's make this happen.:drinking1
Okay, we'll be there the 13th through the 21st of October. Its my first time at FW but my DH has camped numerous times. I'll be up for hosting a night but you all need to listen to my DH's stories about when he was there! Free beer has a price.:rotfl: Being a newbie I would prefer to attend someone else's happy hour first and then host after that. I don't want to be known as the one that screwed up happy hour.:lmao:
Oh, and what is a kungaloosh?:confused3

Kungaloosh is a fruity frozen drink served at the Adventurer's Club at DTD and at FWguy's camper. I will compile a list of FW October Fest attendees and try to figure out which day will work for all of us. Stay tuned.

By the way, my wife would be more than happy to hear someone else's stories besides mine. I have found that my stories have gotten better with time.

Does anyone know the policy on carrying open containers of alcohol on premises.....

I hope I am not breaking any rules:drinking1

I don't know if there is a "rule" or not (nor could I find any by searching), but I know that people have been walking around with drinks for a very long time. If anything, it's nothing I would worry about. Just be responsible, don't throw your empty drink on the ground, and have a good time :)

Great, just great. Everybody is hosting a happy hour the week after us - maybe we will have the place to ourselves..? Kajun - I'll be looking for that Abita Turbodog..!

Our Magical Express: Red Silverado Crew/1992 HR AlumaLite 32ft.

T-7 days until we haul ourselves to FW..! If I can get it out of the mud..!

Chad went alittle overboard at Sams when I told him I'd invited everyone over for cocktail hour.
We ended up with 2 cases of "party pack mix" Abita and 2 of Miller Light...we might run out of food
but not the important stuff...lol So don't be shy

I believe it is mandatory!:yay:
Hey, we're from Louisiana all we know about open container laws.... is what to do with the offending container :drinking1

Colson39,
We found 2 smaller "ear" hula hoops and a large one yesterday :woohoo: hopefully we can make it before we leave on Monday if not I'll just throw all the stuff in the camper and we can tackle it when we get there.

Everyone have a great Easter...I'll post a trip report when we get home

Woohoo! Be sure to take pictures, I want to see! It's pretty easy to put together, so if you don't get a chance to do it before Monday, shouldn't take you long to throw it together at the campsite. Have fun!!!

I'll be there October 6th - 20th, probably over in Loop 2000. I'd be happy to host an evening cocktail hour.

Alright - another for the FW October Fest. The list gets longer.
