For those of you having a cocktail hour I have a question. We are hoping to have our reception at the GF and a cocktail hour there as well. Is there a separate room for this? Does anyone have pictures of their cocktail hour? Also, what did you do for music? We are having a dj at the reception but wanted to play classical disney music by cd at the cocktail hour. Do they allow this? And if so, do they charge? Thanks so much in advance!

Hi BethanyMouse :)

Are you having your reception at one of the GF ballrooms? We will b e having our reception in the ballroom, and our cocktail hour will be in the Whitehall Room, but unfortunately I don't have any pictures!

Good luck!

Thanks so much for your response. We are thinking GF for our reception too. Thanks for your input. What are you doing for music?

Thank you so much for that info and the pics. Do you think it would be tacky to play a disney classical music cd? We are trying to cut costs and this would be tough on our budget....

I don't think so at all. Why don't you try the DFTW wedding's cd - you can find it cheap on ebay. It's instrumental versions of Disney Love Songs but sounds really adultish I thing (is that a word?:goodvibes )

No not at all. I a lot of the girls have said they are using their Ipods(I think Lurkyloo is for her reception at the Attic).

A few years ago I read an article in the Wall Street Journal how Ipods were really popular for receptions, talked to some DJ's who had seen a drop in business. Put in all your favorite songs and have a playlist for dinner and one for dancing.

I have seen that cd, I think I might pick it up. That is a really good idea....thanks!

Thanks for making me feel better about it. I know that if I went to a wedding I would not have even paid attention to if it was a cd or not, but I was just checking. We are definitely having a dj at the reception but I think the cd might work for the cocktail hour. I can see why people are using their Ipods. It makes complete sense to me. Saves money and guarenteed good tunes! Plus you dont have to worry about horrid requests! Do you think that disney will charge a few to play a cd during the cocktail hour?

I'm bringing our ipod to play for our reception at Ariel's...I'm actually going to use it for our ceremony as well. I will be purchasing a system that pays through speakers and runs on batteries. The one I'm looking at plays for about 10 hours on battery power.

I hope you find a solution that you like.

Thats a really good idea! It makes sense to me, at least you get what songs you want when you want them. Thanks for the suggestion, I am going to look into that! I hope your wedding planning is going well! Good luck!

BethanyMouse,
If I remember correctly, Disney has one you can rent, (I think lurkyloo is renting one) but I figure we have many uses for this at home too, so we are just going to purchase it outright. I'm having fun planning our VR...much more fun than planning the original wedding. :rotfl:

:cool1: HAPPY PLANNING!:cool1:

Congrats on the VR then! That is so special! How many years have you been married? What a way to celebrate! Do you have a PJ I would love to read it!

Thank you BethanyMouse. My link to my PJ is in my siggie. My DH and I will be married 20 years on May 28th. (We will celebrate in the world). I haven't done that much in my PJ yet. But it's started.

i know that most area's are set up for the ipod, but mine wasn't. you might want to check with your planner just to make sure there is a sound system already in place in your room. we were going to use an ipod during our pianists breaks, but weren't able to hook it up in the LSS. i didn't want to buy speakers for my ipod because i didn't know which ones to get and i ran out of time. fyi, hth!

20 years! Congrats to you and enjoy your planning! I will definitely check out your PJ. I plan to start one soon!

Thanks Caryn! I read your entire PJ and loved it. Your information was always so helpful! I will write that down in my planner to ask the wedding planner when we are down there. Thanks for all the info!

I love the veranda photos. I would LOVE to have my cocktail hour out there
