Cocaine contributed to Billy Mays' death.

I am sorry but he couldn't sleep at night. How many nights do you think a man could stay away without something snapping? I don't think he was just taking them for his own sake, he had to be there for his children.

Besides you don't know if any of it is true. Until we see the toxicology report we won't know what he was on or taking.

Billy Mays may have had a troubled past as well, and if so then it is understandable, though unacceptable. Many a good people have died because of cocaine, Chris Farley, Heath Ledger, and many more.
It is sad that it has claimed another victim there is no denying that, but it is even sadder that he succumbed to abusing it.

never, no matter how badly you cannot sleep is ANESTHESIA appropriate for that use.

Even if it was a threat to your health? Or your children's lives? :confused3

Yes. There's a reason anesthesias aren't available outside hospitals. Anesthesias are NOT meant to be used as a sleep aid, and you won't wake up feeling refreshed afterwards. Heck, even the right mix of an anti-anxiety drug and a sleep aid will help. If his sleeping pattern was so disturbed that he needed anesthetics, he should've gotten himself to another doctor, gotten a sleep study, etc.

have you ever had anesthetic? it doesn't work that way! you don't wake up feeling refreshed and happy. there are drugs for people who can't sleep, and anesthetization isn't one of them.

He COULD take Ambien.

Trust me, Ambien isn't that strong. And it's EASILY addicting. You start off at 1 mg, next it's 2. When 2 doesn't work, it's beefed up to 5. Soon, 5 mg doesn't help at all and it's bumped to 10 mg. The more you take it, the easier it is to feel like you NEED it. It sucks sooooooo much, and you wake up groggy in the morning.

Plus, it gives you really weird side effects. I've woken up from a sound sleep to laugh for 5 minutes. I've woken up from a sound sleep to cry for a bit. I've woken up from a sound sleep and went into the kitchen and made myself a snack with the microwave. It is WEIRD, and if my mom hadn't seen me do it, I would've never remembered it.

I'm still bitter over my experience. As if having surgery wasn't good enough, I woke up out of the anesthesia to find out my morphine wasn't strong enough. It took an hour for the nurses to get a different drug in a different dosage. I later learned that with anything, morphine doesn't help.

Fine, some other sleeping pill. But there was no way that MJ needed an anesthetic.

Oh yeah, definitely. There are TONS!! of other sleep-aids out there that you can use, even in combinations. Heck, even pain killers and anti-anxieties can do that! And if you're not into the Western Medicine thing, there has to be some kind of Holistic remedies. Anesthetics however, are not to be used for that purpose. Whoever supplied it to him should be jailed, not only because it is a potentially deadly drug, but obtaining that drug was a breach of hospital policy.

I just don't understand what the public interest was in releasing this information. Why did the county examiner release this in a press release? Nobody benefited from it. Maybe I'm too naive.

i think morphine is just used for the amusement of the doctors.;) it makes a lot of people pee their pants. lol. not that i would know that by personal experience or anything. :rolleyes1

And you don't think it's sad that Micheal 'succumbed' to taking anesthetic? It's not meant as a sleep aid, he knew that, and the doctor knew that.

Your double standards and blindness towards him is getting ridiculous. In one sentence you say that prescribed drugs aren't dangerous, and then in another you say that Heath Ledger is 'unacceptable' for taking them (since that's what he died from.)

I agree with you completely. He shouldn't have taken the drugs, and he should have sought another doctor. In no way am I trying to say that taking an anesthetic is the brightest idea in the world. But I am sure once you start it is really hard to stop. If you have a doctor that is willing to do it, he had an easy supply of it.

He should have looked into something else, or have gone to therapy, or have sleep disorders tests. But like I said once he tried it he couldn't stop.

Of course I think it is terrible that he succumbed to the anesthetics. I always thought if he could make it through the allegations and everything life has thrown at him I could handle anything. And to find out that he didn't do as great of a job coping as I had hoped, that has shaken my faith.
I hadn't meant to say Heath Ledger, I had meant to say Jim Belushi.
And I never said that prescribed drugs aren't dangerous, just that they aren't illegal.
I think it is unacceptable for anyone to take drugs, and my heart is broken to find out about Michael's prescription drug abuse.

I know I can be blind because he was my idol, but I am trying really hard to see both side. :( Sorry if I offended any one...

anesthesia isn't addictive.

ok i know im going off the MJ topic in a BILLY MAYS thread but
the crack explains a lot with billy mays
1)he was always so perky
2)his heart was fine until the drugs kicked in
3)the crack might have helped with his self-esteem
I mean selling junk that usually doesn't work takes a toll on you

He was always perky on TV because that's what he was supposed to be like. He got paid to be a TV personality, so I don't know why that would affect is self-esteem.

no because when he first died(before the autopsy his family said he was quote on quote "perky"

people on cocaine aren't perky and cocaine doesn't help your self esteem.
