TAMPA, Fla. – An autopsy report shows that cocaine use contributed to the heart disease that suddenly killed TV pitchman Billy Mays in June, officials announced Friday.

The Hillsborough County medical examiner's office previously determined that the bearded, boisterous TV spokesman had a heart attack in his sleep. His wife found him unresponsive in bed in their Tampa condo June 28.

While heart disease was the primary cause of death, a report released Friday by the medical examiner listed cocaine as a "contributory cause of death."

Didn't see that one coming.

I posted on the other one, which I think the two threads are like a minute apart. Anyways, that's just really sad :[

This is what I cannot stand. At all. How can you expect people to feel bad for you if you did it to yourself?

Yes I am being a hypocrite if MJ in fact had drugs listed as a "cause of death" but that is because he wasn't using hard drugs, they were all prescribed. That and he meant a lot more to me than an oxyclean spokesperson... :/

What a role model. That's all I have to say :sad2:

What I heard was Billy was about to have his 3rd hip surgery within 18 months, and his prescribed pain meds were regimented by his physicians. Where the cocaine came in, IDK.

You think you know somebody and this happens.
Now if only they will release that MJ autopsy report:stir:

Wow, never would've figured that. I don't think it makes it any less sad, though.

mjs drugs were hard enough to take down an army of elephants where they stand. :confused3

its not always okay to do what a doctor tells you to, and if he thinks its A-Okay for you to use surgical anesthesia because "you have trouble sleeping" perhaps you need to be looking for a new doctor.

I am sorry but he couldn't sleep at night. How many nights do you think a man could stay away without something snapping? I don't think he was just taking them for his own sake, he had to be there for his children.

Besides you don't know if any of it is true. Until we see the toxicology report we won't know what he was on or taking.

Billy Mays may have had a troubled past as well, and if so then it is understandable, though unacceptable. Many a good people have died because of cocaine, Chris Farley, Heath Ledger, and many more.
It is sad that it has claimed another victim there is no denying that, but it is even sadder that he succumbed to abusing it.

Heath Ledger didn't die of cocaine. He took a deadly mix of prescribed meds, including OxyContin, Valium, Restoril, Vicodin, Xanax, and an anti-histamine.
