We're thinking about trying Brown Derby for the first time later this year. I would really like to try the Cobb Salad while we're there, and I was wondering what the dressing is like. Is it similar to a vinaigrette?

Thanks! :)

The Cobb is done like a true Cobb where everything is chopped into small pieces; the salad has the texture of oatmeal. The tastes are so finely mixed that you don't taste a dressing. It is a vinaigrette with mustard, lemon, red wine vinegar, etc.

Sounds great! Thanks so much. :) I've never had a Cobb salad before, so I'm really looking forward to it. :teeth:

Once you try that you may want to try the Cobb Salad at the Grand Floridian Cafe. Unlike the true Cobb Salad at the Derby the Grand Flo Cafe keeps the ingredients in recognizable chunks and you have your choice of dressing. It may not be exactly the original, but we prefer a salad that doesn't look like it's half chewed already.

I tried the Cobb salad at The Brown Derby on a recent trip. I love any and all salad and dressings. IMHO it was very sour and I wasn't able to finish it. Very disappointed. Best of luck!

My husband and I are salad lovers, so we were super excited about the BD cobb. It was the worst thing we ever tried at Disney. The PP said it is chopped...it is more like minced. The dressing was very sour. I would never order it again, but if I had to I would ask for the dressing to be on the side. The server mixes everything at the table. I would also ask to do that myself. It became just a drippy glob...you couldn't tell what you were eating.

I like a sald where every bite is a different combination of the ingredients. This was soup like. lol

I actually really like the Cobb salad a HBD. It is chopped very finely and mixed together with a tangy dressing. I think all the flavors combine really well...great for lunch!

I'm another who was disappointed in the HBD Cobb Salad. I guess I just got used to other Cobb Salads with pretty much the same ingredients just not chopped up. So trying the original was like eating steak and then being given meatloaf. Yea, it's still beef but it's a totally different thing.

Same here. I didn't care for how finely diced the lettuce was. It made the whole salad too mushy. I know that lots of people like the Cobb salad there, but unfortunately I'm not one of them.
