One of the ADRs I'm hoping to get for this trip is HBD. Initially, I chose lunch because I saw the Cobb Salad offered as an entree. I know it's not an entree on the dinner menu, but does anyone have experience with ordering it as an entree for dinner?

We'll be on the Deluxe DDP and for the sake of value, HBD for dinner would make more sense---but a Cobb Salad as an entree is what I really want, so if I have to do lunch, I will.

Thoughts?

Personally, I don't feel the cobb salad is worth two credits! My Cobb last year flat out made me gag! And, I am a saladholic. Salads are my favorite food, but this one left much to be desired. I can't remember if you can order it as your meal for dinner or not. I know I got one for dinner, but we paid out of pocket for this dining because it wasn't worth the 2 credits.

Yep you can order it for dinner. Just make sure you tell them you want it as your dinner entree. I always do this here and its so good.

The Cobb salad at HBD is excellent. Really good blue cheese! I wouldn't worry about "wasting" credits, since you're on the Deluxe plan. You'll have more credits than you'll know what to do with. Enjoy!

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Even if it does "make me gag"---I'll still have an appetizer and a dessert, so it won't be much of a loss.

Glad to hear it! Since they have it as an appy at dinner, I figured it wouldn't be too weird to ask for it entree sized, but ya never know!

Nope, not more credits than we know what to do with unfortunately. :rolleyes1

For 5 nights in WDW, we are planning on doing 5 signature meals. Of 15 total meal credits per person, that uses up 10 of them on dinners alone. The last 5 will be going towards lunch, with a snack credit being used for breakfast of the days.

Now we may not necessarily get an app & dessert with every one of our meals, but there are definitely no credits to waste. :)

Ok, maybe I should have said more food than you'll know what to do with! We did Deluxe dining last September for 9 days and did all signature dining with a lunch or breakfast and we were FULL! A salad entree will probably do you good.

Now that I can totally agree with. :thumbsup2 I anticipate taking the dessert from dinner and eating it for the next day's breakfast (hey, we're on vacation!) which means that snack credit we thought we'd be using for a muffin will be leftover. I see a potential last day stop at Goofy's Candy Company in our future. :rotfl:

I just got a weekly Disney newsletter and someone wrote in saying HBD has switched to
an all day menu instead of separate lunch and dinner, and the coconut shrimp app is gone. I would love to see what the new menu is since we have ADR's in Oct.

fyi allears had mention in newsletter today re rumour of HBD now 1 menu for lunch & dinner:confused3

I ate at the Brown Derby yesterday. Just wanted to let you know the menu has changed. They now have an all-day menu. The coconut shrimp is gone. Sigh... Food is still excellent.

Remember, if your deluxe dining is over that time, you can use your snack credits at the food and wine festival kiosks. We ended up burning up a lot of our credits that way. Then we visited the candy store!

Thank you both for the heads up!! Hopefully Allearsnet posts a copy soon (since I'm assuming that is the newsletter you are both referencing) As long as they still have the Cobb Salad and the cheesecake with shortbread crust while we go, that'll be fine with me :thumbsup2

Unfortunately it isn't during the F&W fest, maybe next year though. ;) This year our Deluxe Dining is during December. With the parks closing mostly at 7:00 and 8:00 we figured Signature dinners would be a good way to spend our after-park time. :)
