My sister in law has 90 points she wants to give us to use. There are number of guests removed of us traveling so that means we would need an additional number of points removed for a week?

How exactly would it work? She's not too sure herself...

Is it possible to have points from 2 sources?

You would need to have her reserve as many nights as possible using her points and then find a member able to reserve the rest of the nights you want. The points cannot be combined unless she wants to have the additional points transferred into her account so she may have a few stranded points left over. The two reservations will need to be linked together so you won't have to change rooms.

There is a little coordinating necessary to manage the reservation (unless the transfer option is used where she could make the entire reservation for you) but it can be done.

Is the Grand California Hotel the only DVC option at Disneyland?

Yes, it is the only DVC option. Though you can use your points at the other 2 hotels there, Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier.
