Co workers vent.....

My cube neighbor is like this. There is always something wrong with her, or she always has so much to do, so much that she has to work from home and blah, blah, blah. I get to hear about it ALL day long. The past 2 days have been nice because she called out sick.

I dread her coming back because some of the people on my team got asked to go to field conferences in Las Vegas and Orlando in Oct and Nov and she was not asked. She is going to flip a lid, but she wasn't asked because of her health issues and how she has so much work to do that she can't be out of the office for a week for each conference. I will have to listen to her complain about it and inform every person she talks to on the phone (which is a lot of people each day) that she isn't going and why.

I know it's going to be annoying for you, but I think it's fantastic that all of her complaining actually had a negative effect. "Oh, so you're sooooo sick and sooooo busy? No trip for you, then!" :thumbsup2

Sigh right back at her. I've whined at whiners and it usually stops them in their tracks. :lmao:

OP here - another day & it's already started....Calgon, take me away!! :)

I feel bad for all of you, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. :)

I worked with a gal like that and she was only in her early 20's but acted like an 80 year old. Every day it was something!

We have a martyr like that at the job... She loves to stay late and then talk about it all the next day like she had ANYTHING else to do. She's unmarried, no family in town, no friends, no kids and 4 cats... get the picture??

Everyone else in the office has responsibilities elsewhere. SHE has to complain about her late hours and coming in on weekends. AND she's STILL 3 months behind in her work?? :confused3

She's not in my dept, thank God, but her boss is always telling everyone how LATE she stayed and how dedicated she is... Yet she can't get anything done?? My dept is done and ready to go home at the appropriate time, I don't want martyrs, I want WORKERS!

In my office EVERYONE else is sighing!!

OMG, I worked with the same type of person for almost 10 years. She was always looking for sympathy and everybody that came into the office got to hear about all her "poor me" problems. She spend all day at work discussing her personal problems with anybody that would listen unfortunately management actually felt sorry for her and she got away with murder. She didn't work during the day but always stayed late and prowled the halls so management could see that she was that devoted worker that stayed late. She always complained about all the work she had to do and that was because she never did any so she was always behind.
Finally her husband got tired of her crap and he left her for a much younger women. Boy, you can just imagine what our days in the office were like then. I finally told her to grow up (she was 46) and that I was tired of listening to her "pity me" stories. After that she was never in the office anymore, always out socializing with anybody that would listen. At least I didn't have to listen to them anymore. Management finally realized what a joke she was so she was "asked" to find another job. Yeah!!!

OK, bringing an old thread back but I just had to....I'm losing my marbles!!

The same gal is at it again....except now it's worse since she is "sick". I don't doubt she feels icky, but guess what?! It's winter and a LOT of us have colds. We're not whining, though!! Suck it up, lady, and get over it!!

I actually think she likes being sick.... I know that sounds insane but I think she does. It's like she is desperate for the attention.

Had to vent that out so I wouldn't want to slap her. :)

"Sorry, I can't listen to you talk about how you feel right now, it's making me feel ill, too" "Until you are better, please keep away from me, I don't want to get sick too." "I'd love to hear about some of the good things in your life."

I can't tell you how much more happy my workplace was once the Hypochondriac of our office retired. I actually couldn't take it once, and yelled at her. I felt terrible and apologized later, but she was driving me crazy. She actually toned it down for a bit after that too.

The one next to me belches ALL DAY!!!! I mean all day long- she told me she has some digestion issues. LOL She's doing it right now- wish you all could hear it. :lmao:

I think I would like the belcher over the one who sighs all day :rotfl:

Last office I worked in on of my co-irkers complained all day from the gas prices to the government to anything inbetween. To anyone that came to the counter. So I got to hear a lot of the same things over and over again. I lasted 5yrs of that crap.

Op is there anyway you can wear headphones or ear plugs to drown it out? I wish people would be more sensitive to others around them. Why can't people just be quiet at work? Is that too much to ask?:confused3

Thanks all :) Believe me, slapping her (briefly) occurred to me! :)

The thing that just kills me is that we've got a gal in out office who is on leave, getting chemo for cancer, & when she comes in to work a bit here and there, this sweet woman NEVER complains, even though the poor thing has a right to.

Grrr....

Next time she sighs, turn to her and say "What is wrong with you now".....

I would love ear plugs - but I am on the phone talking to
customers so I can't. :( But I wish I could! :)

I guess I have a hard time with people where EVERY cotton picking little thing is drama. And she is that way. Trust me, if it weren't her cold, it would be something else.

A little off the subject but I gotta do it.... My coworker looks at my screen all day long than shares with the department what I am doing. Not telling on me but to say, oh she is sending an email to the boss, she was on facebook and wrote something funny. Also, if anyone has a conversation, personal or work related, she turns her chair around to listen. The other day, I asked her if she wanted something and she said no, I'm just listening and I said I would rather you didnt. She wasnt pleased. But I felt better. She has kind of ignored me for the couple days since..... I'm happy. :)

Ah ok well yeah headphones definatley wouldn't work for you. Sorry. I also don't get people like that. Maybe that is why I have only a few friends and enjoy the company of my dogs :rotfl:

OMG wow. That is crazy!! I always made a habit of not looking at peoples computer screens. Even my own husbands screen. Because its so rude to me. If they wanted they would show me what they were doing on their screen.

Good for you for standing up to her. There are some people who just don't know about personal space.

I thank my lucky stars they canned my super annoying co-worker...now I have the office to myself(mostly) and if I get lonely, I just wander to someone elses office and chat, then head back to my own..I just miss her AMAZING stories...like how she was best friends with Jesse James..LOL

Wonder what she would do if you started constantly "sighing" back? I mean really consistently? ;)
