Pete makes a really important point about the longevity of Disney-it's not about the attractions, the characters or anything else. It's about the experience that people have. For Pete, it was the reward after achieving a difficult goal. For others it's memories of being there with loved ones, I know for me every time I go I remember riding rides with my Dad and my goddaughter. The day after I lost my job, I went to Disney, because as awful as getting laid off was, Magic Kingdom was still my happy place. I knew that I could regain my perspective and be ready to start fresh the next day if I took that night to ride the rides and watch the fireworks.
No matter how bad things get, or how many times I've been there, I can find a little pixie dust and get a little hope back in my heart. That's something that Disney gives me, and millions of others that will outlast everything else.
