CMs saying Merry Christmas?

Just got back last night and had plenty of Merry Christmas and just about as many Happy Holidays. It was delighful either way, and made 'Christmas' merry and my Holiday happy. :)

All the best to each and every one of you during this season of Joy! :teeth:

We were there from the 17th through the 23rd and had many CM's wishing us a Merry Christmas. I also heard a few Happy Holidays and I enjoyed the wishes behind both of them!

I was there from the 10th thru the 20th and was very alert to the fact that not one CM said Merry Christmas in response to my saying it first. I actually had one smile and tell me that they were not allowed to say it. Maybe I just talked to the wrong people?

I figure have a Happy, Merry or Whatever. I will gladly wish anyone what they want and want to be allowed to say what I want as well with them wishing me well also. JMO

We were at WDW for a week over Christmas. Many, many, many CM's said Merry Christmas. An occasional CM said "Happy Holidays" or both phrases, but far more wished us a Merry Christmas.

Certainly the wrong people. I have had many say Merry Christmas. The part about not being allowed to say it is simply not true.

Hmmm, this "non-issue" has suddenly become the rallying cry for conservatives "offended" by not being wished "Merry Christmas." It is a not a constitutional right to have people wish you Merry Christmas, it is not "anti-Religious" if someone wishes you "Happy Holidays" or doesn't wish you anything at all. In fact, it MAY be against the personal religion of the CM to wish you "Merry Christmas"...even some religions that are "Christian" by definition do not wish "Merry Christmas" (Jehovah Witness, for example). I find it amazing that folks feel "insulted" by not being wished "Merry Christmas", demanding that their religion be "respected" without respecting what may be the religious beliefs of others. :(

Very good post. I have no problem with people saying Happy Holidays. I think in most cases it is the right thing to do. However what I have a problem with is when it is ok for companies and governments to say Happy Hannakah and Happy Kwanzaa but they can't say Merry Christmas. As I pointed out earlier in this thread. The street I live on has banners put up by the city. They alternate between Happy Hannakah, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Holidays. Now why is it ok to say Hannakah and Kwanzaa but not Christmas. Something is wrong there.

We too were in the World from the 14-23rd and heard many more "Merry Christmass" than we did "Happy Holidays" I am happy either way, but I am in general not someone who is looking for something to complain about.

One day we were at lunch and we overheard someone complaining that you never hear or see the word Christmas in the Disney World, they were going on about twinkle season and happy holidays etc So, we paid attention the next time we were in the MK, there was Christmas mentioned everywhere, in the parades, in the shows, every CM we wished a Merry Christmas that day responded in kind.

Then we went to the CP, and you don't get much more of the "true" Christmas spirit than we did that night. So, while it is a commercialized celebration, it was certainly more Christmasy that I expected, and much more so than the secular "light up night" types of celebrations that go on in most communities.

Kwanzaa is not a religious holiday, but a fairly new cultural celebration, so it wouldn't bother me to see Kwanzaa mentioned without Christmas. In response to the Happy Hannukah, would you feel differently if the sign said "Merry Christmas" with no mention of Hannukah? Private companies can conduct their "holiday greetings" anyway they see fit. I don't think it is proper for a government agency, city, or state to chose either Christmas or Hannukah over the other.
