C'mon Disney

Is there a reason that they are rolling this dinosaur out again rather than making a new 3D movie? They could do a new one starring Bing Bong from Inside Out that would fit in great in the Imagination Pavilion. Heck, moving the video from Magic of Disney Animation starring Mushu would make more sense. Everytime I saw that, it had significantly more people in the theater than Captain EO. Why bring this back?
Agreed. The Walt Disney story would be a lot better. But to me, it's not about bringing the movie back. It's about trying to insult my intelligence by pretending this is a great event. To me, it seems that Disney is always insulting our intelligence. First when they made EO a FP+ attraction and now by re-introducing this old worn out movie as "too good to be true". Really?

Yea, socrateze, I thought it was a joke when I saw it on email! What? I must admit I've never been enticed to see it in several trips over the years to Disney. No interest at all. With the awful reviews, I was sure I made the correct choice. Now it's being re-introduced??? I reserve the right to still Not see it. Sigh...just wish they would make the effort to put something new and worthwhile in that place. Where are the imagineers??? I miss them!

EPCOT: the home of unused buildings, recent ride closures, recent favorite show closures and no net new attractions on the way (closing down Maelstrom to open a Frozen ride in the future is not a net new attraction). Captain EO's return will surely alleviate those problems, right? :sad2:

Regardless of whether you like it or not, you have to admit that it is WAY past its expiration date. The film is of such a bad quality now, that it seems blurry and in no way crisp & clear like what you should expect in a 3D movie

That giant sucking sound coming from EPCOT is Disney getting every last nickel from its dated attractions. Don't worry I heard the imagineers are working on a "NEW" 3D movie project, something about shrinking the audience.

I love EO, but I also agree it is well time for it to retire. Most crowds don't seem to be into it, however, one time a few years back, I went to it later one night and got a crowd that was SUPER into it and it was awesome! They brought their kids, were explaining to them all about it and stuff. It was like being in the 80's again! I'm willing to let it go, but I'll always love it.

LOL! The festering anger in here boggles my mind. I love Captain EO. Is it super dated and 80s? Yes. Should they replace it with something a little more current? Yes. But while it's here, it's a lot of fun. The whole dancebreak ending puts me in hysterics every time. I have no clue what everyone's problem is with this attraction. But that's fine. If we are the only ones in the theatre, we will rock out just that much harder! WOOO!!!!

Count us in as another family who love Captain Eo. Heck, when it first made a reappearance, several years ago, my teenage son even bought himself a tee. He only wears it on laundry days now, but it's still in his dresser!

We enjoyed seeing the Tomorrowland trailer on our spring trip, but we missed Captain Eo. We've got our fingers crossed it'll still be there in December, so we can see it at least once more.

It's just pure nostalgic silliness, and we love quoting lines from it. "Hooter!"

I guess you don't understand why I am annoyed. I don't care if EO remains in the park from now until doomsday. Really, I don't care.

I do care that Disney insults my intelligence by sending an email touting the return of EO as a great event. Can you honestly say that Captain EO is "too good to be true?" Sorry, but I can't.

Yay! Michael Jackson lives on through the Magic of Disney regurgitation!!

My thoughts as well. I posted about the triumphant return of Captain EO on another thread yesterday and regurgitated was also how I described it lol. They take out some attractions because they're "dated" but then they foist this off on us like it's the next greatest thing and it's every bit as dated as the stuff they've closed down! SMH.

It's decisions like this that set Disney back a step instead of moving forward in the same way Universal has moved forward. While Universal is creating the most innovative, jaw-dropping, mind-blowing attractions, Disney dusted off Michael Jackson, set him back on the stage like he was new and shiny, and then sent out an exciting announcement.

Hey Disney people, the 1980s are calling and they want their Captain EO movie back. If you'd like, I'll pay the postage.
