I am not up on all of the HP movies that are out. Am I right in that all of the movies have been in the theater by now? Are they all out on blu-ray too? Or will be by Christmas? The last movie had 2 parts - so, I would like to buy one large set with everything on blu-ray.

Sometimes the title says "complete" - but that was before this last one came out. General price range for what I want - under $100? I saw something for $349 - yikes, hope that's not it!

Target has - $95.79 - Harry Potter Collection Years 1-5 (12 Discs)

also - $79.99 Harry Potter: Years 1-6 (7 Discs) (Blu-ray) (Widescreen)

Although, I would think that more years would mean more discs? I just don't want to order something that then find out that what I ordered did not include everything.

Any light you could shed would be greatly appreciated! :goodvibes Thanks!

You want the 8 disk set. You are correct the last movie was in two parts and yes it has been released on Blu ray. You can find it for under $100. It's $80 on Amazon right now and I think it may be cheaper other places. (Walmart, Target)

Also-The box set does not have any special features. There is rumor that they will release a box set with features next Christmas.

There's 8 movies for Harry Potter. Years 1-7, but year 7 was made into 2 different movies. I'd watch Amazon and try to put together your own set. I was able to grab the first part of year 7 on DVD for $3.99 with free shipping on Amazon a few weeks ago. Many stores usually offer the older Harry Potter movies for $3-$7 on black friday. The most expensive one should be the latest release of the 2nd part of year 7 and I believe it's running around $20 for the holidays. If you have the time and can watch sales and stuff I don't see why you can't pick up all of the movies for around $60. It might not be a boxed set, but you can put it in a box. :rolleyes1

I'm also big on reading the books first. Some of the movies make more sense if you've read the books. If the person you're buying the DVD's for hasn't read them I'd first get them the book set. It might not be what they really want so you can decide what they'd like more. I just really think they'll enjoy the movies a lot more after reading the books if they haven't.

Amazon has the entire set on DVD for 48.99 today. That is all 8 movies (Years 1-7, with Year 7 being 2 movies). That is pretty much the best I have seen.
I had posted about this set last week. Apparently Warner Brothers will be retiring the set after Christmas, and making them unavailable for awhile like Disney does with it's movies so it's probably a good idea to get them now if you don't want to wait.

That's an awesome deal! Thanks for posting :goodvibes

Just to let everyone know especially the OP, I have heard that they are going to be putting ALL the Harry Potter movies into the "vault" on Dec. 29, 2011! Because of this prices could possibly increase closer to Christmas...

The thing is though you can get a great deal on the DVDs individual but not so much the Blu-rays. You can still find sale prices but nowhere near $3-7.

Very true. I just buy the DVD over Blue Ray. We received a Blue Ray player for Christmas last year from my inlaws and every time we put a movie in it, it skips. :confused3 I don't know if it's the HDMI cable or what? I just didn't have the heart to tell my MIL it didn't work (she can be kind of goofy, so it's more I wanted to avoid a painful conversation.) Kind of sad we were in the Blue Ray "loop" for about 20 seconds and that was it.

Thanks for posting the deal on Amazon and the info about the movies being "retired." Kind of upsetting if they do that to the new movie. It's only been out for a very short time. At least Disney gives you a decent amount of time to buy a movie and then fair notice of it being put in the vault.

It's only going to be available for 40+ days. Makes no sense. I guess they will get the holiday money then sit on the movies for a while. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for capitalism, but this is just silly.

I agree, it is very silly and makes me not want to even purchase the movie at all just on the principal of it. Then again I can't NOT complete my set, this is the only movie I have left to get. So I guess they've got me right where they want me, along with millions of other fans.

Not to veer off-topic, but what brand is your Blu-ray player?

You may need a simple firmware (software) upgrade to the machine, as some of the earlier Blu-ray players needed Java updates to play certain discs. If you have any questions, you can PM me, and I'll let you know what updates you may need (if anything).

You can learn more about the Blu-ray experience at www.blu-ray.com
