I noticed a couple weeks ago when we were at WDW that certain groups of people seemed to have a CM from city hall with them. What's that all about? Is it perhaps for the Magical Gatherings? We saw a few of them while waiting in line for rides, they would just stand off to the side and wait for the guests to be done riding the attraction.

It could be several things- 1) Tour as Brer suggested 2)They rented a Guest Service CM as a personal tour guide 3)They get one for security purposes

Wow, I had no idea you could get a CM as a personal tour guide, I tend to think that's what it was.

For a price, of course. I believe I read this was in the neighborhood of $90 an hour. And it does *not* include any special front of the line privileges...

(Maybe someone else will have first hand knowledge about how this works...)

ahaha, I'm sure it comes with a price! What doesn't at Disney, eh?
But interesting, I thought I was up to snuff on my park knowledge.

I found this on allears.net :

Disney's VIP Tour Services

The VIP Tour Guide can host up to 10 Guests. If your party size is larger than 10, we will provide an additional VIP Tour Guide at an additional cost. VIP Tour requests may be taken up to 90 days in advance. Please note that reservations may not be accepted during certain holiday periods. To ensure availability, we recommend you call at least 72 hours in advance. Existing WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort transportation will be used. Private transportation is available at an additional cost.

The cost of Disney's VIP Tour Services is $85 per hour when scheduled more than 48 hours in advance, with a minimum charge of five hours. Any tour scheduled with less than 48 hours notice, will be charged $95 per hour. Should your plans change, we require advance notice of 24 hours to avoid a cancellation fee of $170 per VIP Tour Guide.

Priority entrance to attractions is neither offered nor available.

Customizing your VIP Tour is easy. Simply call Disney Special Activities at (407) 560-4033 and speak with a Disney Special Activities Coordinator; also available via e-mail at WDW.VIP.Tours@Disney.Com.

NOTE: All information subject to change without notice.

Just out of curiosity, do they still do the old "guided tours" with guides in plaid uniforms at MK? Or have they been replaced by these specialty guides?

my Keys to the Kingdom Tour guide had the plaid uniform on..well.. the vest is plaid.. the rest is blue pants or skirt.. and white shirt.. Our tour guide rode the rides with us....some don't....

$85 an hour with a minimum of 5 hours? That's $425 dollars - what in the heck do you get for that? Is it kinda like a personal guided tour without the tour? I'd love to hear from someone who has done this!
