CM said there is a "grocery store" in DTD??????

There's goodings which is in a shopping center across the street from the Hotel Plaza Hotels (Hotel plaza blvd ends meets the shopping center I believe).

It is DTD area, but not DTD.

They are pricey. and you can find a Publix just as close just about....but I'm not good on giving directions off property, hence my horrible description of Gooding's--if it is still even there.

The Earl of Sandwich is about the closest thing you'll find to a grocery store in Downtown Disney. They sell a few necessities, but certainly couldn't replace a true grocery store.

Perhaps they meant Goodings at the Crossroads just across Apopka-Vineland. If you go PAST Downtown Disney all the way to where the road dead-ends at the entry to Disney property, you'll find a plaza right across the street (where Jungle Jims, Uno Pizza, etc are located). There's a very good grocery called Goodings right there in the plaza.

If you turn left out of Disney property onto Apopka-Vineland and keep going about a mile or so you'll find the Publix Lisa Loves Pooh is refering to. And she's right...the prices are better than at Goodings.

I knew those - well, at least some of them :)
But, he said there IS a grocery store IN downtown disney.

Weird, huh?
I even questioned him a couple times because I was so sure that there *wasn't* one.

There wasn't a grocery store when I was there last week. There is no grocery store on Disney's website. There is no grocery store on the Downtown Disney map. I'm thinkin' there's no grocery store in Downtown Disney.

He's got to be referring to The Earl of Sandwich, but again, it's not really a grocery store.

Perhap he was talking about the Gourmet Pantry which used to have a small selection of groceries and gourmet treats. Over the years, the selection shrunk as Goodings and the other stores opened up I think. It is now the Earl of Sandwich.

There is a Winn Dixie North on Apopka Vineland RD as well. I've never seen the Publix that way.....perhaps it is further North.

He must mean the Gourment Pantry but that is not the same as it was years ago. You can pick up some things at the DVC's (there is a nice area on the Baordwalk) or have groceries delivered to your room we like wegoshop on the internet.

ugh - its almost cheaper to eat out EVERY MEAL than to buy groceries at Goodings. That place is horribly overpriced (especially on "quick" things most of us would be buying for WDW).

Turn left leaving Hotel Blvd and go down the road to Winn Dixie or turn right and there is both a Publix and Super Walmart.
