Hi all!! We are headed to the World in 20 days - woo hoo!! My daughter is really into pin trading and she (and I) have collected quite a few over the last three years (more than I would like to count). Recently, I told her about the CM Lanyard Series Pins. Needless to say, she is very excited about the challenge of collecting these pins and has already gotten her traders together for our upcoming trip (a girl after my own heart :D ).

So..... how many pins are currently in this series? Do you think she would have good luck in obtaining them by going to the Contemporary for their Saturday night pin trading night or should we stick to the parks? Unfortunately, we are not early risers when on vacation and I am concerned that by getting to the parks around 11:00 am we wouldn't have great luck in finding these pins - any ideas there?

Thanks so much for your help. Something tells me we won't be visiting too many attractions this trip, LOL....

Thanks for that link.... I saw some others listed on E*** and so I thought there were more than what was listed on dizpins. I showed my daughter the pictures of these pins and she is really excited!!! She HAS to have that Mickey Topiary Pin and the I Love Mickey License Plate pin.... really nice series :D

Definitely don't pass up opportunities to get duplicates when you can ... you can either use the duplicates at the Contemporary pin trading night to trade for others you don't have ... or you can use the duplicates to trade at www.pinpics.com when you get home.

For example, we have a duplicate Minnie Topiary which we might be willing to trade for a Mickey Topiary. So duplicates can't hurt INHO.

Dagny - I noticed you mentioned the Contemporary meet (shameless plug). That's a great place to go and trade!

I just wanted to clarify that it is on FRIDAY night (not Saturday as you had in your post).

There is also a regular Saturday night meet at the Poly in the back of the lobby.

So, just to recap:
  • Friday night at the Contemporary on the 4th floor by the pin cart
  • Saturday night at the Poly in the rear of the lobby (behind the rainforest)
Both meets start at 7:00pm - have fun!

We were in disney for just a couple of day. Just getting off the crusise we just went there for the weekend.
But the best place I found the Lanyard pins were at the disney store in the airport. I got 5 of them off of one lanyard.
The other ones I got at Riverside in the merchandise store.

Thanks everyone for their help!! And thanks Nancy for clarifying which night the Contemporary pin trading was - we would have pin trading amongst ourselves, LOL :D

I am really looking forward to this trip - hopefully my DD will have some successful pin trading!!

Hey Dagny - another hint for finding the Lanyard Series pins. I had fantastic luck finding them in the little shops in the England area of the World Showcase. Especially in the shop that sells candy and tea.

Have fun!!! :)

Are the Saturday and Friday meets held every weekend, or are they scheduled for certain dates?:)

EVERY WEEKEND!!

For some of us, we will be hitting the one year mark. Jeeze one year spending my friday nights at the Contemporary.

Yup - Scott is right!! They are held every weekend!! Go, have fun, enjoy!!

If you intend to get ALL of the lanyard pins, you have a lot of work ahead for you.

Get to the parks early! I can't stress this enough! Cast Members that are in heavy volume areas (like near attractions, main gate) may get their lanyards picked clean. Try areas that have much less volume, like World Showcase and certain areas of the MGM-Studios. Don't look in Food and Beverage Areas, as for obvious reasons most don't have lanyards.

If you encounter the same types, like ivanova mentioned, use them for the meets or pinpics. There are always people looking for them.

I work in merchandising at MGM and I am not given that much information about when we get them. They kind of like to show up on our lanyards every now and then!

Personally, I believe this is a great ideal! They actually made me go CM trading once again like when I first started the hobby!

Thanks for the info! I will try to stop by when we visit the week of July 4th! How lucky some of you are to be able to go so often!!!:):D

Cindella,
I will be there with my family that same time so watch out. I am hunting for lanyard pins too.
We have to make plans ot meet at Pin Central one of the days we are both there. I will be at that other park on the Friday and Saturday so I won't make it to the meets, but I will be at the parks from the 30th to the 5th.
Anyone else want to have a meet at either Pin Central or inside the closed restaraunt in Epcot? Who else is going to be there during the 4th of July? Peggie

Thanks, again, everyone. Hopefully, my DD will have some luck. We are going to try to make the pin meet at the Contemporary so maybe I will have a chance to meet some of you!!! Only 18 more days to go... Woo Hoo :)

We'll be there 6/29-7/7 (God willing!) and in the WDW parks all but 6/29 and 7/3. At least that's how it looks on paper now. I think there is a pin event at the Contemporary on 6/29. I know last year they had one on 6/30. (That same Saturday)

Be sure to wear your green ribbons. It seems I'm always at one of the pin carts or Pin Central!:D I'll keep an eye out for you!:)

I was at WDW from Apr 25-Apr 28. I was able to trade for ALL the CM lanyard pins that are presently out, with the exception of 4. I don't know if the timing was right or what, but I also got some extras of ones I already had for trading. Check every lanyard you see. I was able to get 2 of them off of a "maintenace" type person that was sweeping up trash near the Kaki Gori stand. Don't ASSUME that a CM won't have anything. Some will be nice enough to point out the lanyard pins to you. I printed out a picture list and crossed them off as I was able to obtain them. As far as not checking the Food and Beverage people. I got my Mickey License Tag off the Host at the Living Seas, so don't avoid them as was mentioned earlier--maybe the food cart CM's may not have anything, but I bet most table service CM's do.

Good luck in your quest. I had an awful lot of fun tracking these down. I don't think that the pins themselves are as nice as most rack pins, not near the quality, but it is certainly a fun challenge.

I will be back down the end of May, so please leave some for me. :)
