On our recent extended family trip, we had a 4yr old and 9 yr old in a double stroller, and two other 9 yr olds in single strollers. We only had 3 days in the parks, and knowing how hard we were going to push ourselves we made the decision to help the kids out by renting strollers. When we passed by one of the CM's at MGM (who I guess is there to make jokes as a "vagabond" type person), he made fun of one of the 9yr olds. He said in a very crass voice "Hey kid, don't you think it's time you learn to walk. You're a little big for the stroller don't you think." We didn't think much about it at the time, but now that I think about it, I realize how risky that was of him to say. What if the child had some type of disability? I know he was just trying to be funny, but he probably should be made aware of what a terrible thing he could be saying to some child. A post I just read here discussing the appropriate age for children in strollers made me decide to tell my experience. To make matters worse, not long after the CM made his remark, a lady passed by us and made some rude comment about the kids being too big for the strollers. Of course, I have to admit they did look a little oversized for those pitiful strollers MGM has, but the other parks' strollers easily accommodated them. I can't imagine why anyone would concern themselves over this! If I'm willing to pay the money, should I not be able to push around whomever I want in a stroller?

Wow How rude :guilty: ..Shame on that CM(CAST MEMBER)

Your 9 year old should be walking on his own or leave him with grandma

I guess the "actor" might have risked offending someone that had a disability, did your child appear to have one, if not I guess poking fun was not too out of line. They are there to, "make jokes". As you said they looked a little oversize for the stroller.

Yes it is your right to put your kids in strollers, but is this something you would do at your local mall?

If not then you also risk the chance others will comment. Either let it go, or have them walk.

yeah, at nine years old, time to walk, mom time to let them. i say this with a little harshness because there comes a time when mommy won't have a "stroller".

Seriously, some of you mind your own darn business. If you are actually worried about this woman's kids in a stroller, I would focus on your problems.

As for the above mentioned quote, I would hardly compare walking around Disney World to your local mall. There are times that I wish I could have been pushed in a stroller. I rented one for my 6 year old in September, and my 10 year old did infact use it at times. Running from morning to night is hard on anyone, better to at least make it more enjoyable for the kids instead of listening to them complain how their legs or feet hurt.

My point is a 9 year old is possibly in the 3rd or 4th grade. I seriously doubt anyone gets a stroller at the mall even though it can be alot of walking. The OP has every right to put her kids in stollers.

Others have the right to think it looks odd and to comment here or at the parks. Neither are right or wrong, different opinions which some seem to think should not exist.

Most of the post and the subject focused on the CMs "rudeness". However, if you want to pass judgement, you go right ahead.

well, don't run your kids from morning until night, not enjoyable for anyone.

As soon as I read the remark I wondered the same thing- what if the child had a disability. The CM probably meant it as a joke, but he was taking a chance at having shoe sandwich.

I noticed a number of older children in strollers. It didn't occur to me that there was anything wrong with that, because there isn't. Touring WDW is tiring, and all the excitement is tiring.

Now you might want to stop making sense here. ;)

Absolutely! That is your right as a parent and your decision to make. Everyone else needs to mind their own beeswax.

No matter what everyone's opinion is on to stroller or not to stroller they should keep their rude comments to themselves! Keep stares and rude comments for the parents out there that are beating their kids, not putting them in seatbelts, smoking with the car windows up and the like. Sheesh- not for pushing a kid that they love and are thinking about with only good intentions.

I really don't see why everyone is getting into such a yank over this subject. Disney is hard on most people. This place is for Children to have fun. If a stroller helps them to rest sore feet, (which may have blisters) from the extra amount of walking that most people and definately kids don't do everyday, more power to them. If a parent chooses to let the kid suffer, that is a choice they can make. I want my kids to be happy and pain free, to be able to enjoy the trip, I could care less what others think.
