Do all cast members get a discount on the DCL (as in Disney Store employees)? If so if your teenaged daughter were to work there would she be entitled to the discount and the family could book through her? Just trying to cover all of my options - she wants to get a job anyway and she loves Disney!

I dont know about the rules concerning the discount but I think yes that is possiable-

My friend who works at the Studios booked our cruise and we got a bit of a discount- I think the real discounts are the last minute "fill the boat" ones-

It is my understanding that CMs are strictly forbidden to talk about their discounts. Some former CMs have posted on the boards that there is a cruise discount.

First of all the age requirement for the Disney Stores is 18. Secondly you must work there for 6 months before you qualify for a cruise discount, thirdly the only way you can get a discount on your cabin is if she is traveling with you...the discounts are made for the cast member's cabin only, or a family member traveling on the same cruise as the cast member.

And yes, cast members are not supposed to discuss their discounts...it could be grounds for termination. The best thing to do is to inquire with the manager of the store to see what discounts are offered.

at least park CMs cannot get a cruise discount until the specific cruise is "opened up" to CMs (which typically is only a couple-few months before saililng). Prior to that, they pay full price.

They also don't get to pick their cabins (just the "type" - inside, outside, etc, with varying prices) and they cannot book Palo until a certain hour after regular guests have been able to book for a couple of hours or so. On the Wonder, generally there's nothing left at that point - but it's much easier on the Magic.

DCL CMs can only book discounts when the cruise availability is posted. If the cruise sells out at full price, they don't open up to CMs - which makes good business sense. And it's sometimes not "opened up" until less than 30 DAYS before sailing date.

About your daughter, I would encourage her to find a job she really LOVES, get her education and worry about the perks later. If she really loves Disney, check out http://disney.go.com/DisneyCareers/ or http://www.dcljobs.com/ to give her some ideas about what she might like to do and what the requirements are.

THERE IS A 3 TO 4 DIFFERENT CM DISCOUNTS.WE HAD FLORIDA RATE PLUS SOME PERCENTIGE OFF AND HADE CAT 5.IF YOU WANT TO GET SOME MAJOR DISCOUNT YOU HAVE TO TAKE WHATEVER IS AVAILABLE

Hi....I recently went on the 7 night eastern caribbean cruise with a disney store castmember. We had to call the 'Sailaway Line' ( a special phone number that is for castmembers only). It lists all dates that are available. If you want to book a cruise with a confirmed category and stateroom you get a 15% discount up to 3 staterooms. If you don't care where you stay then you can book your cruise and get up to 60% off. You will find out what category and stateroom you have when you check in at the port. We did this and got category 10 deck 2 deluxe inside stateroom. We paid $475 per person for a 7 night cruise!!!!!!! We had 4 people in the room. We also got discounts at the shops (20% off) and also on spa treatments when the ship is in port. The biggest CM benefit is that they give you vouchers to tip your servers. So we had a discounted cruise, discounts in the shops, they paid for our tips and we had the BEST vacation ever! You also do not have to work at the disney store for any length of time before you can book your discounted cruise.

Have a great time using your discounts!

Thanks for replying everyone - we will have to check into this further!

So can a Park CM use their card to get discounts on board? How does the vouchers work?

Is there anything else we can't do or have delayed status on board?

As we booked 6 months prior I know we arnt under the deeply discounted rate thing as I really wanted a firm sailing date (as Im flying in from Utah) so are we still tagged as a CM room?

THanks ;) -em

For those who have replied and listed the CM discounts, perhaps you didn't read what some of the above posters stated....CM rates and benefits are NOT to be discussed, especially on a public message board! If there are questions about CM benefits, visit the CM forum on this same board.

This thread be locked before someone get's in trouble. Disney Management does read boards and it wouldn't be too hard to figure out who a poster is by looking them up. I'd hate to see anyone get into trouble by trying to be helpful.
