We are DVC owners, but have decided to splurge on a 3 night stay coming up next weekend!

It’s been too long and we’ve never seen Christmas at Disneyland, so we are super excited…even if our pocket books are not 😀

We currently have reservations at the Grand with a premium View club level (never have done club level) and a premium View standard room at the DLH, we will cancel one of them.

We absolutely love the Grand and proximity to the parks, but it will definitely cost more to stay here. Never have stayed during Christmas, but hear that the Grand has a lot of great decorations.

For those who have stayed at both hotels, especially during Christmas, what are your thoughts?

Thanks!

I would choose the Grand. The decorations are good at both hotels, but the Grand is extra special. Personally, I don't like walking through the crowds in DTD to get back to the DLH. Even though it will be a pretty walk with nice decoration for Christmas, I don't really get to take it in as I am busy trying to navigate around the crowds.

Also, having the lounge is a relief when you are hungry/thirsty and don't want to wait 30 + minutes in line for something. That alone makes club level worth it IMO.

Great points and we are definitely leaning towards the Grand, and the club level should be nice for a quick snack break given the long lines I keep reading about.

Appreciate your response!

I love the Grand during the holidays. (This will be our first year staying there during the holidays but have always made a point to dine or stop by).
The holiday decor at DLH is ok. But it's so spread out. And from what I recall... their Santa was in a more mid-century set up. In the past there was a gingerbread house set up. But it just feels more closed in. Lacks the grand height of the other hotels. GCH is cozy and traditional... with hot cocoa, carolers, etc. Plus the gingerbread house in the lobby.

I agree with the DLH being spread out, to me takes us out of the immersion with everything.

When going back to our room at the Grand always nice to see the amazing lobby, and hoping it will have all the things you mentioned in your post.
