I recently learned that we may be able to go back to Universal this August. I am so excited because I thought it was going to be totally out of the question this year. We stayed at the Hard Rock on the Club Level last time and absolutely loved it. We were surprised at the amount and variety of food at breakfast and dinner - it really saved us some money. And we loved having water and pop always available. My question is, has anything changed lately with the food options available. It will be 2 years since we have been there. When I go online to book a room it makes it sound like there is just breakfast and then beer/wine in the evening. Also has anyone done more than one Club level and if so which one do they think is the best? Thanks for all your help.

I stayed club level last year at HRH in July and it was basically the breakfast (very large selection considering...), mid day snacks, and then beer/wine and snacks/desserts in the evening. There was also water and soda available at all hours as well as the lounge, cd collection and newspapers. This was my first time at HRH club level after staying at the HRH 4 times previously and thought it was very nice. With the discount (lowes first number) it was actually cheaper than the standard room for when I was travelling which worked out even better.

i have stayed at club at hrh before.
have stayed at hrh for over 20 visits.

this year i'm moving to rph.

one tip for you.

if you are going later in august, you might want to wait until you check in and then ask to upgrade to club.

if club is not sold out, which doesn't really happen in late august, you can usually get club cheaper.

there should be a sign on the lobby counter that states something like this:
want to upgrade to club, ask the TM when you check in.

i have seen the rate to be an additional $50 to 100 per night to go club at check in time.

you are already booked at the hotel.
you upgrade at check in time and save money usually.

check the website for the cost of club at this point.
then decide if it is worth the gamble to wait and go club once you check in to the hotel.

hrh dropped out of the loews program last july 08.
no loews amenities at this hotel for it.

they have they own program.

the validity to upgrade to club is available at all the hotels.
if they have rooms available when you check in, you can usually get the club room cheaper than booking club in advance

This is great advice. I asked to be upgraded to Club at HRH last October and was offered the upgrade for $50 per night extra. I was paying a Super Saver rate of $165 per night and then add the $50 upgrade charge. It was a great deal!
