CL's - what do you get?

I thought CL's were regular players that had no special priviledges and got nothing for their service to VMK. I was talking to a kid today that said CL's can get into full rooms, while others get booted out, and are give magic pins and have the newest stuff available to them before others can get it....is this true?

Not true. Game testers are able to get things before others, and I assume staff can get into any room even if its full. I've been CL for close to a month now I think and I've not been given anything new except my title. If you think about it, that would not be good if the motivation to become CL was to get special things. We are just motivated by a desire to share what we know about a game we love so that others may enjoy as well!

yes it is not true, cl's do not get any special privileges except the cl_ in front and the magical hat badge thing and no we can not get in to full rooms either although i wish we could about the only other priveleges we might get is a staff might except our friendship and we might sometime in the near future be able to help with an event. cl_riccio (me) and i hope i helped a little more besides what tigressjewel already said

Yes, a few CL's have been able to do this. I noticed in the letter they sent me when they said I was now a leader is that if things go well, I might be able to move to the next level. I hope that being helpful in a more specific way and/or under the direction of a staff is what that means.

1. constant friend requests
2. people threatening to report you if you don't answer fast enough
3. people asking you to give them "free stuff" because they think you're rich

Don't take this the wrong way. I like being a CL. BUT, there are drawbacks, too.

Well I was sure this was the case and this boy was mistaken. Anyway, I agree, if there were special perks then the motivation would be greatly skewed!

As all have stated above, there are no real "perks" given to CL's, save the CL badge (which is kinda neato, I guess). Some VMK staff have added me to their friends list, though I don't think it's a good idea to bug them. Don't know what the "next level" is, though I see several long-time CLs hanging with staff in private meetings... The real fun for me as a CL is having newer players come up and ask questions or helping them with pirates or the like.
On a side note, a player (new kid? mule?) came up to me and asked if, as a leader I could help. I said Yes and the player asked "Where is the rest room?"

Wow. Who knew I enjoyed the benefits of being a CL without having
the title? I haven't been threatened with reporting, but I did
get an ungrateful little snot tell me I didn't answer fast enough.

Shorts, but you forgot the people threatening you that if you GIVE them your Inferno they will report you and you will be "banded!" Or that if you don't succumb to their will they will report you and think it gives them more rights to call you a "loser," or my favorite: "geek."

I've been a community leader ever since the whole community leader thing began...and I've gotten absolutely nothing out of the deal except constant friend requests and trade requests. Yes, you get a pretty button and a very difficult to type "CL_" in front of your name, but that's about it. And the "CL Meetings?" They're nothing at all. Just a staff member pulling together CL's so the CL's can ask questions to the staff directly...they're usually not going to divulge exclusive information, they're not the VMK gods. Just moderators.

Oh yes, I feel the CL badge sticks a big "LAME" sign on my forehead. But that's just your little old Fly.
