Clothing to pack for Norway-Iceland Cruise

We were on the EBTA and the weather was cool and rainy in some ports. Foggy some days/nights. We definitely packed the right gear. We had long sleeves and rain gear. We opted for jackets with hoods instead of an umbrella while walking around but most everyone had long pants like jeans or sweatpants while onboard during the day in the ports. Dressing in layers was critical as at times the sun came out and we could peel off the rain jacket and still be warm with the other layers.

I packed 3 infinity scarves and wore one almost every day which helped with neck chill. The weather was varied in ports. First pic was Halifax, then sunny on some of our sea days, sun and rain in Stavanger, Norway, rain in Oslo, Norway and sun and rain the three days in Copenhagen.

I'll add one other suggestion. Make sure you have appropriate footwear for your excursions. Two of our guides in Iceland have recommended bringing a good pair of hiking boots/shoes. I'm also throwing in my Keen sandals just to send out good vibes to the weather gods, in hopes that it will be warm enough to wear them at some point!

We were on the EBTA also. We're from Phoenix and left over 100 degree temps so it was quite chilly for us. We wore jeans and sweaters most days after we started across the Atlantic. Our water resistant jackets with hoods were very useful. I wished I'd packed a couple cardigans to wear inside the ship. It wasn't cold enough for a jacket but I was chilly with my short sleeve shirts I had packed.

Having just returned from the EBTA and a side trip to Iceland, I agree with the above posts. Definitely wear boots in Iceland, that is all anyone wore. Prepare for cold and rain and just be happily surprised if you get some sun. Layers are very important.
By the way mmouse37, if you had a strange woman in Oslo tell you she liked your jacket (because she was wearing the same one), that was me :)

So, packing similar to an Alaska cruise would be appropriate? Love your pictures!

Boots? Why? I was planning on wearing tennis shoes. Would that be a problem?

We just got back from the Baltics cruise, but did 2 days in Iceland before the cruise.

Iceland is amazing, but the weather is completely schizophrenic. It literally would cycle thru rain, sun, sleet every 5-15 minutes. Tennis shoes are fine if you are only going to be there one day, and you won't need to wear them again, because there is a good chance they'll get really soaked. They also wouldn't be the best if you are planning on doing any actual hiking. Iceland is very rocky. This is particularly true if you will be walking up to or around any waterfalls. As for clothing, we layered. A long sleeve t-shirt, a wool zip up hoodie, a down jacket, and a rain/wind breakers with a hood. A scarf is a must, and a hat that won't blow off in the wind. If you will be spending prolonged time outdoors, gloves. Depending on how long you'll be outside, pants that dry quickly are fine. I'd add fast drying long underwear to them if you are not used to the cold or will be out for long periods of time (more than 20 minutes?)

As for the rest of the Baltics, it was cool and rainy for most of it. One of our guides said it was the coldest May in 20 years though, so maybe it was colder than what most folks planned on.
