I Will be traveling to Disney World during the middle of January and wondering what kind of weather and temperatures to expect, what kind of clothes would you guys pack?

Faith, Trust, and..PIXIE DUST.

We went MLK week in 2013 and wore everything from shorts to t-shirts to long pants and sweatshirts. The weather is all over the place. It could be from 40-80. It's definitely cool in the mornings and evenings, so you will need at least a sweatshirt.

It was mostly in the 70's during the day, which you could wear short and a t shirt but as soon as the sun went down, it got chilly.

Would you pack two pairs of jeans and two pairs of shorts? We are going to do laundry there.

We were there last January. I packed one pair of jeans (and wore one on plane), one pair capris, three pairs shorts. It was only warm enough for shorts one day. The rest of the time, I wore jeans and layers of shirts/sweatshirts/jackets. I did laundry, and we wore the jeans a couple times before washing.

Check the weather right before you go, but two pants and two shorts sounds ok if you're willing to do laundry.

We went at the beginning of January this year (1-7). The weather was all over the place. Our first day (Jan 2) was foggy until 10am, so foggy you couldn't see the castle from the front of the park. It was also rainy but warmed up a good bit during the day. Our second day was very chilly, we wore long sleeves and jackets with hats and gloves. The next day was temperate in the low 70s and we were comfy in jeans and tshirts, it was even warm enough to enjoy the hotel pool. Fourth day was down right hot and we wore shorts. Last day started out in the upper 70s and was in the low 40s to upper 30s by the time for fireworks. The next morning we left is was near freezing.

We took shorts for our girls and had them wear leggins under them so they could take them off if it warmed up if the day started cool. We took long sleeve shirts to wear under our tshirts for the same reason. We planned on renting lockers to store the shirts and leggings in. What I didn't expect was for the temperature the last day in the park to plummet as it did. Luckily I did have their leggings but we had to buy a blanket because our jackets were not enough to keep us warm that night.

My girls had specific outfits they had picked for each day and I had pants/shorts planned for each day that could be rotated to work with the shirts they had chosen. They could wear shorts on warmer days (leggings as needed) and pants on cooler days without too much hassle. They also had three long sleeve shirts each to be worn under their tshirts if needed. I took five tshirts and three long sleeve shirts I could wear under those. I had two pair of jeans and two pair of shorts so laundry was in my future regardless. My DH brought five tshirts and two long sleeve under shirts, three pair of jeans and two pair of shorts. That does not include the clothes we arrived or left in. I brought cheap knit gloves and hats for my girls that wouldn't matter if they got lost, they were used the second day and could have been handy the last park day if I had them. DH and I did not have hats but we had gloves. We also each had light jacket (which was not warm enough the last park night or the morning we left) but I did not expect it to be near record low while we were there and honestly we don't own thicker jackets because we live in the south. We just layer for those colder temps that come along occasionally.

By planning on layers I actually took fewer clothes than if I had planned a warm and cool outfit for each day.

I did do laundry while we were there as I wore jeans four of the days and I only brought two pair. A hint on laundry if you plan to do it, take a few of the laundry pods that are ready to go. I took liquid pods, but if you are flying I would see if they make powder pods. I only had to do one load and it cost around $3 to wash and dry at All Stars Music.

I hope this helps, I'm kind of all over the place here.

It can get much colder than people tend to think. A few years ago, we hit AK on an EMH morning and it was 27 degrees. We have had beautiful warm days and cold windy days. We take a bit of everything. Jeans are good, but remember if you get wet in them, it takes a long time to dry. We like layers over big coats. Gloves and hats are very helpful. That year it was VERY cold, we saw people in shorts (as that was all they brought) and wearing their bathrobes for a bit more warmth.

We did wdw for our honeymoon a few years ago in mid jan.. Thankfully I brought 1 sweatshirt but it wasn't heavy enough so I was cold, especially during the parades at night. I wore jeans and a hoodie for the 4 days there with t shirts layered under. I remember cast members wearing coats, hats and gloves/ some but not all. Id prepare to do layers and watch the weather before you go. As we say in Massachusetts if you don't like the weather wait a minute bc it will change :)

Check the weather report right before you go and pack according to that. Then, no matter what you packed, make sure you have at least 2 outfits for hot weather and 2 outfits for cold weather. And that should get you prepared!

We went at the end of January 2010 - a record cold winter. We were in pants and jackets. Being southerners, we didn't have jackets warm enough. Layers are your friend! For both figuring out outfits as the day goes on and for those people who don't have lots of winter clothing.

I'm not as far south as Orlando and so our winter is a little more extreme - we can have it 75 degrees one day in January and 32 the next! FL swings less than we do, but it still can swing with temps. Luckily, the 32's are quite rare in FL - though they were there when we went in 2010.

Ok I shall pack a little bit of everything we are from texas. I don't know if I will pack a swim suit though it sounds like it might be too cold for that!!

I would have looked for some sweatpants in the park.. I can't imagine people running around in bathrobes that would be interesting lol

I would pack layers and be prepared for it to be hot or cold. In jan 2013 we wore shorts and never touched our cold weather stuff but in mid dec 2013 it was cool and windy. We wore pants with t shirts and a sweater in the evenings

It could be from 40-80.

It can be lower and higher, too.

A little over a week starting Jan 4 this year, one day was 21 with windchill. Sadly that was the day we took the boat to DTD. I'm certain I was a shade of blue by the time we got there.

It was SO cold at certain points this Jan. After our WDW time was done we went to Daytona, where it was just as cold. Thank goodness we had packed somewhat correctly and had our puffy coats from home, so we could walk along the beach a couple times.

Then we were back in Orlando for Universal and it had *started* to warm up, but we spent one hour by the pool getting some vitamin D, wearing long pants, puffy coats, and scarves.

(should mention that I was dreadfully sick starting on the 6th, DS got it on the 11thish, and we were utterly miserable until the last week of the trip, when we just barely were able to get onto a cruise ship ("just barely" meaning the health questionnaire was able to be answered correctly, but if it had been a day earlier we would have gotten to see a doctor before being allowed, or not, to board))

We're having a re-do of that trip (and of my Half marathon that I run so so so sick) and I WILL be packing two pairs of longjohns for me and DS, I will have proper pants and long sleeved shirts, I will ALSO have shorts and tees and bathing suits and flipflops and wool socks and proper shoes. I will pack everything, LOL.

And yes, swimsuits. It was in the higher 70s before it got SO cold, and it was 80ish on the day DS ran his Mickey Mile. It can be all over the place.

People reported that for either the Half or Full marathon in January of 2010 it was actually sleeting at the start.

Just went this past January and couldn't believe when we got up and it was 39! It was so unexpected!

I agree with the person who said check the week before your trip. Even then, pack for anything but it will give you an estimate. The forecast the week before our trip was off in both directions. I remember it was supposed to be low-70s most of our trip when we looked beforehand. We had some days that barely reached 60s and days well into the 80s. I laughed before we went that 60s would feel wonderful, afterall we were coming from somewhere we were barely getting above 0 if we had positive temps at all. 60 felt cold! The mornings were pretty cold too. We actually had cold the first day and then it was beautiful. I was so used to the warmth that by the 6th day I put us all in shorts and t-shirts for our Hollywood Studios day...it was COLD and rainy! The one day I didn't check the forecast, it was miserable. We ended up going back to the resort and were so exhausted we didn't return to the park. The day we left was cold and rainy also.
Anyways, we packed a bit of everything and I am glad we did.

I'm a Florida girl and for January trips, I just pack jeans. I don't even bother with shorts, because I don't wear them until it gets to 85 degrees or so. :) With the cooler mornings and evenings, I'd rather be comfortably warm at midday than to have to take a change of clothes. We were there this year for my birthday (Jan 2), from 12/31-1/5, and there were days I just wore long-sleeve tees with jeans, other days I layered a short-sleeve t-shirt under a sweatshirt, and one day was quite cool and I had on 2 shirts plus a sweatshirt for most of the day. I hate being cold. The night we went to Hoop Dee Doo Revue, we all wore sweatshirts and wore the coats we'd brought and were glad to have them while waiting outside.

Agree with other posters. It's unpredictable. We've done January twice. Once it was gorgeous. I actually bought flip-flops at our resort because it was so nice and I had only packed sneakers. Our next January trip was FREEZING and we had to wear gloves and hats!! I'd suggest checking the weather ahead of time and packing layers.
