Cloth Diapering at Disney?

I started cloth diapering DD two months ago when she was five months old. We will be going to WDW in December and I am wondering if I should even bother bringing her cd's. Has anybody cloth diapered while on a disney vacation, even part time? If you did, when did you find it easiest to use cd's and when was it best to use sposies?

TIA!

I haven't been to disney yet our first trip is next month. But I did cloth diaper both my DD's. We always cloth diapered when we were in town but I never did on vacation. If I was going to try in on vacation especially at a place like Disney I think I would stick with disposable while at the parks and use cloth while at the hotel or on a short trip out. I only say that because I wouldn't want to have to tote extra clean diapers and soiled diapers around the parks with me all day. And I also think I would only use cloth diapers if I either had access to a washer/dryer while on vacation or if I was only going to be there a few days.

I am a DIE hard CD'er, but this trip, I sucked it up and used paper. We already had enough stuff to lug around, I didn't want to add dirty diapers to the mix. I was SO happy to get back home and in cloth though!

It's a personal choice, but, don't feel guilty about using paper diapers while on vacation - that's really what they were designed for - the occassional use ;-)

You can also get some unbleached, more enviro friendly diapers to make you feel a little better;)

Using cloth diapers at WDW: in a word, ICK!! Imagine lugging the dirty ones around, and if it's hot, that's even grosser. And, depending on how long you stay, you could require a whole other suitcase just for clean diapers. And, do you really want to be doing laundry on your vacation? Not sure your reason for using cloth (I gave up trying to be environmentally conscious when it came to poopy diapers!), but I think the cloth diapers should take a vacation while you are on vacation.

THanks everyone! That's what I was thinking too. Even though our condo does have washer/dryer, I think I'll just stick to sposies and enjoy the freedom of not lugging around the cloth.

CDer from Kiddo's birth here :)

Not sure your main reasons for CDing, but if they are environmental and/or health related, they make a number of chlorine and gel free sposies. We have used Tushies, but there are other brands as well.

Well, I *would* use them on WDW vacay. I would make sure I stayed in a place with a w/d, and I would absolutely use them. Disposables disgust me, and DS was in cloth by his 43rd hour.

I prefer to carry the cloth in a closed bag with me than leave them in a garbage can to go rank and disgust others until a CM empties, which then sends it to a landfill, which is an inappropriate place for human waste!

So just in case you wanted to hear from a serious die-hard, now you have.

(We only did day trips to Disneyland when DS was in dipes so I don't have experience of a longer trip at Disney, but we did take train trips to BC, and our trip to So Cal did involve many other outings such as the Zoo and SeaWorld, so it wasn't JUST a day trip, we carted clean and dirty CDs all over the west coast!)

I do cloth diaper- and it's for environmental reasons mostly- although I do like that there are no funky chemicals on my little one's skin!
We have done trips with them and without them. It's by far more relaxing to go without the hassle for the week of vacation. 90 degrees is not the best temp for a poopy diaper to sit in. :scared: Yucky!
We settled for using cloth for overnight and at the hotel room, and compostable disposables during the day. I knew that this way they would biodegrade and not waste resources. I found them at drugstore.com.
Have a fun trip!

We cloth diapered at Disney when we went last year (end of September). It was easy, no problems at all. We actually go DS some really cute Disney themed diapers just for the trip. DH washed them every other night in the laundry room at the POP after we got back from the parks, we never had a single problem using cloth at Disney.

We plan to use cloth when we go next year as well, that being said, I will use disposables for the trip when I am doing my solo trip with DS and bean next September, because I can't do laundry and deal with two under 3 by myself. If DH is there though we will be using cloth, we never had a problem with carrying his dirty diapers around even in the heat of Disney.

We CD part time but I would NEVER CD in Disney. Its a major PITA to carry around all that bulk LOL - Its so crowded, hot, tiring, and you need all the room in the backpack as you can get LOL

I will share what my sister did. She is "hard-core" and when they went to Disneyland years ago, they took a large duffle bag with clean cloth diapers, and came home with a same duffle bag full of dirties (in plastic bags of course). She was using a diaper service, so she did not wash. This was also pre 9/11 so it wasn't an issue to take an extra bag! I think the trip was 4 or 5 days. Now that said, I would never do this, but I am not hard core and would use disposables on vacation. I cannot remember the brand, but they were more "natural" type. So, to answer your question, yes it has been done!

Ahhh the question rears its ugly head again! Next to politics and religion, CD comes a close third of what should not be discussed in mixed complany. I used cloth diapers on the little guy when he was NB but we switched later. I see a few issues that some folks have brought up already but the only one I can really stand behind for not using them at WDW is sanitary reasons. I personally think washing poopy diapers in public washing machine is inconsiderant to the folks that are going to use it after you. If your little one has a firm BM its not quite so gross but if they have a case of the runs thats a whole other ball game. I know I know bleach and hot water kill all the nastys and things far worse than poopy diapers end up in public laundry units but I just think its a little disrepectful to the folks that go after you, thats all. Just my 2 cents Either way enjoy the trip!

I cd my son but not at Disney. It is not just the pain of washing while on a super busy Disney vacation but the bulk of carrying around clean and dirty dipes in the parks. In the parks we want as little stuff as possible!

What about the kid who poops in his pants after being fully potty trained? Or the kid who had WAY too many sweets and puked everywhere? Or the new baby who is 100% breastfed with breastmilk poopies but pooed right out of the top of the diaper and ALL over their clothes? There are a thousand ways you can get poop in a washing machine LOL

But umm maybe not to the same degree that you would if you were washing 6 to 7 diapers a day ;)

Mental note to self..order bleach from Garden grocer :rolleyes1 :goodvibes

What about using disposable diaper liners? They're usually flushable and allow you to dispose of solid manner in the usual way w/o carrying around a mass of it while in the parks.

We used these liners for training pants when the girls moved beyond diapers and were out and about. (we used both cloth and disposable for diapers but never did the pull up thing with them. I worked in the 2 yo room of a day care and had issues! roflol) It's been a little more than 2 years since I've ordered but here are the top few results from google.

We considered bringing our cd's on our recent weeklong vacation to DL but decided against it. Actually, we had disposable diapers and a lot of other baby stuff delivered to our room with our groceries. It was great not to have to lug all of that stuff around. Especially now since airlines are now charging for baggage!

I didn't see this mentioned previously, but Disneyland's Baby Care Center still has it's special sink for rinsing cloth diapers. Makes it a lot easier on the mom's who do CDs.

I can appreciate and admire the cloth moms on this forum - I did CDs for my oldest and (sadly) caved into the world of disposable for #2. I had so much going on that I just didn't have it in me to keep it going!
