Closures at GF in October?

We are currently booked at The Contemporary for Oct 13-20. When we originally booked back in February, all that was available was Theme Park Room so we went ahead and took it hoping for some discounts to offset the price.

Well...that week is excluded from FD and Theme Park Rooms at Contemporary are excluded from room discount so we got nothing. We could just stay put or we could switch to GF but it looks like there will be renovations and the pool will be closed.

First, the lady on the phone told me there are 4 pools total and only 1 will be closed but I only see 2 pools when I look at the map. Am I missing something? Also, is there going to be a lot of noise from renovations?

We could save $1000 but I'm not sure if it is worth it if the main pool is closed and we are listening to construction noise all the time.

There are only 2 pools, but they are building a water play area and supposedly a fountain/splash pad. Not sure when they will open.

•Courtyard Pool: Mid September to Mid December, 2012
•Gasparilla Grill & Games: September 4 to December 17, 2012
•The Spa: September 19, 2011 to December 5, 2012

These locations are being refreshed for your future enjoyment. In the meantime, you will have access to alternate options during your stay, so you can anticipate a truly grand vacation experience.

But with the construction at the Courtyard pool, which is the middle of the property, I could see that having a major negative impact from a visual, sound, and overall expereince. If it was me, I wouldn't stay there.

But do you really/need a Theme Park view?

No - but don't need a Theme Park view room. Didn't even really want a Theme Park view room. We did want to stay at The Contemporary though and it was the cheapest room available when we booked back in February. It booked up fast! We really just wanted a Garden Wing room!
