Would RSR going down (other than normal breakdowns) be announced well in advance? I'm still learning, but my brief amount of research tells me they don't announce things as early at DL as they do at WDW? I'm battling the decision to go or postpone with one of my must do's - Fantasmic - being down. And now I've learned Haunted Mansion will all but definitely be down. (not so much of a must do but an always do at WDW and it's really disappointing) But RSR is such a major attraction I'm hoping that is something that would be announced well in advance? That one is a make or break the trip.

Other than the regular closures like HM and IASW they typically announce minor refurbs 3-4 weeks out. They are then subject to change up until the day or close or reopen as delays happens either on that attraction or other refurbs. Planning around a specific ride or attraction is often going to frustrating because she schedule can and does change often and on short notice.

Thanks. I'm trying to not get to attached to any attractions for my trip, but RSR is one that would break it. :-/ A possible once in a lifetime trip and a 9 year old boy.

That doesn't change the answer. A closure could be announced 3 weeks before your trip and the dates could change up to the day before.

I'm not sure when you plan on going, but in my experience, planned closure on a big ride would typically be done in the "off season". Or what used to be considered the off season. They do not typically close big rides during the busy times.

Thanks hlbtimes2. I am on the fringe of off season. I haven't nailed down our week, but the plan is for August. I *think* the last 2 weeks are approaching whats considered off season? Or do I have that wrong? I can't decide if I want to get on HM and go the first 2 weeks. Or live with that closure and go for the last 2 weeks. (leaning towards last week when school is back in session...but then I bump into marathon.)

I highly doubt they'd close Racers then, or any time before year end, really, it is a fairly new ride still. If there were any lengthy closure I'd imagine it would be in Jan/Feb, just simply due to the ride's extreme popularity. The last two weeks of August are traditionally slower but with the 60th celebration formally ending on Labor Day I can't imagine Disney would close their biggest DCA attraction during that time.
