If I got the paperwork started on a re-sale tomorrow, how long would it take before we would be in the DVC system?

Took us about two months.

Can be as short as a month, but don't go resale for speed. If you have a trip planned within say six months, plan on cash or buy direct from Disney. If its within six - nine months or so, you may not close in time have a lot of luxury in choice. We weren't pushing, but this is what happened:

We made an offer on a contract.

After three days of consideration, the seller decided not to sell.

We made an offer on another contract.

Took only 24 hours to get sellers ok and papers signed!

Paperwork went back and forth. We returned ours promptly, but the seller always took a few more days.

Disney took all 30 days to not exercise ROFR (apparently, they just let it expire).

The closing company was busy, took a while to get in for closing

The seller forgot to have a document notarized, it needed to be returned, resigned, notarized and sent back (this added a week).

We finally closed.

Took another three days to get into the Disney system to be able to make reservations (which we didn't need to do).

At what point are you in the Disney system. Once the closing has occurreed and $ disbursed to the seller or once the closing company notifies DVC that the Deed has been recorded?

Once the closing has occurred, the closing company sends DVC the paperwork. It takes three days to a week before MS can access you.

The deed wasn't recorded for another few weeks.

::MinnieMo We purchased our resale from the timeshare store. We made an offer on our BCV points on Sept 7, heard back from ROFR on Sept 17 and closed on Oct 3rd. We were in the Disney system in three days. We were very lucky, things went very smoothly for us.

Good Luck!!!!!

So DVC will notify the closing company whether or not they will excercise ROFR or if they are not, just let the 30 day time limit expire?

Usually Disney gets back about ROFR, one way or another, in a few weeks.

When we bought, BCV was selling like hotcakes and they were having trouble keeping up. So ours just expired.
