How do I know my closing date? Or do I only know the transaction closed after-the-fact? I received closing documents last week, executed them and got the funds together over the weekend, and everything went out UPS today for a guaranteed by-Thursday delivery. Does the title company email to let me know when they have received my docs and also those from the seller, and forwarded on? Actually, what are the next steps? Recording the deed? Then sending on to Disney to get into the system? I was so focused on the beginning of this process that I don't seem to know as much about these final steps. TIA for any help!

Hi - Not sure which broker/title company you used - we used Fidelity and First American Title - when we purchased earlier this month. We got the closing paperwork on a Tuesday and sent it back Fedex the same day - it arrived the next day (Wed) I'm assuming they got the sellers paperwork back very quickly as well because we received an email on the following Tuesday - (4 business days after they received my check and paperwork) that the closing had taken place and our information had been sent to Disney. Hope this helps. Good luck - waiting is tough but you're reaching the end of the process!

Timeshare Title and More has handled out closing, and I verified they did receive payment, but have not heard anything since, I know the deed has been filed with Orange County, so I am assuming they sent the paperwork to Disney at that time.

Contact your broker. They can tell you exactly where you are in the process of closing. After closing the process gets a little murkier as you get dumped into the mysterious inner workings of Disney.

It can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks to gain access to your points after closing. Disney works at their own pace and can't be rushed. Especially when you are a lowly resale purchaser.

YUP! We are past our 3 week mark since closing on April 30 :( Our new contract showed up just yesterday online but no points as of yet have been loaded. I have called to try and get the process accelerated and they (DVC admin) always say "no go". One of the questions they've asked every call was whether or not I bought on the resale market or direct. :confused3

Thanks for the replies! So I'll wait at least until the end of this week to see if I hear anything about closing. My docs aren't due to arrive until Weds/Thurs so no point checking until after that. If I don't hear anything I'll call my broker early next week to inquire. Once it closes and goes to Disney, does Disney notify me that I am in their system and have access online, and send me membership cards, etc.? Or is it up to me to be checking online access/loading points, and requesting membership cards? Everyone here seems to be calling to find out - is that because they are anxious to access their points, or is that how you have to do it to confirm everything is finally all set in the system?

I've noticed the timeline varies quite a bit for closing. Some people have said their contract closed within a matter of days of their documents being sent back. However, both my and the seller's documents were all in the hands of Timeshare Title & More last Monday, and we still haven't closed. I don't want to be a nuissance, but I'd really like to know why it's taking so much longer!!

Contact your Broker, they would know for sure. It all depends on how quickly the closing company moves with things and if there were any hold ups anywhere!
