Does anyone know the closest Steak and Shake to US/IOA? DH and DS's love Steak and Shake. We are from the Northeast and don't have the chain in our area so when we go on vacation we always hit the restaruant. I went on the website and it looks like the nearest one is the one we usually go to near Downtown Disney. That doesn't seem right so I was hoping that maybe someone could help us out with finding one closer. We will be at HRH for four days and would like to stop there before checking in. TIA

I believe there is one on Orange Blossom Trail, which I think is about 10 minutes away...

In all honesty, the one near Downtown Disney is probably the quickest one to get to from US/IOA if you just head down Palm Parkway. Mileage-wise the location on Orange Blossom Trail is closer but it's on OBT just north of the Florida Mall which means you have to drive out to OBT on Sand Lake Road. It may only be about five miles but I have never driven out there regardless of the time of day without sitting in traffic.

We love Steak and Shake too.

Go north on Kirkman until you get to W. Colonial Dr (Colonial is the next light past the 408) Just stay on Kirkman and then turn left on Colonial. The address is 7101 W. Colonial Blvd. (It is just past Hiawassee St.) It is about 5 miles from Universal.

Traffic wise. I'm a person who hates sitting at lights. The one on 535 is closer to I-4 and you can hop on/off. That being said. The traffic on 535 in general during a anything that is close to being a busy time for the parks in just silly. Keep that in mind and Phantom's choice might be the 'best'

That's actually the Steak and Shake we usually head to because it's not in a tourist area. Great area for the chain restaurants: The best Golden Corral in Orlando IMO, Smokey Bones, Longhorn, etc.

Technically, Oak Hills--- Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

I gotta ask, what is a steak and shake? We dont have that around here and I want to know what I'm missing. Fast food or no?
