I have heard that some of the resorts, such as the Grand Floridian are a little "slower" in getting you to and from the park because of the distance and being "last" on the route. I was wondering which resort is closest to the "action" with the quickest (shortest) route to the MK and ease of accessing the area.

As if this question makes any sense! But I can't word it any better.

Actually the Grand Floridain has the quickest route to MK...as it is the last stop on the monorail before the MK...but coming back it is the last...so its a bitter sweet location...
The Contemp. is in walking distance to the MK...which can be great for getting to and from the parks...

To be honest..I would say the Grand Floridian is the quickest...as it is the last stop before the MK...and therefore the quickest route to the MK...but maybe its just me?

The CR is the first stop on the return from MK.

Most people walk from the CR to MK and ride the Monorail back.

The GF is fast by monorail TO MK, slow coming back. However, it's the first stop back by the little launch.

I've only walked to and CR for one round trip but it seemed like a good 10 minute walk to me? Still you don't have to wait at all of course.

The monorail from the Polynesian is fast. The GF stop never seems as long as the TTC and CR stops do. The Polynesian GF launch is fast from the Poly because it's the last stop. From the Polynesian you can also hop the express monorail at the TTC which is a short walk from the newer buildings. We also enjoy taking the ferry back to the TTC...I think this may be fastest of all. It seems like maybe 5 minutes. However it is very crowded in the AM going to the MK.

I think they all have good transportation to MK...even if it's man-powered from CR....but the Polynesian offers the most options.

pretty much anywhere on the monrail loop is great for MK access -If you are standing looking at the MK the monrail runs counterclockwise - so the GF is the closest goin to MK and the farthest when leaving - Polynesian is in the middle - Contemporary is closet going back to the hotel and the farthest going to the park.

We stayed twice at the Contemporary for a week - it is incredibly convenient. The monorail is on a schedule, so you can't ever just get on and go - unless you show up exactly as it is boarding then you arrive at the mono station and wait anywhere from a minute to maybe 10 (didn;t actually time it). So every morning we just took the feet - it is maybe 5 minutes walking at a brief pace, 10 if you are just strolling... lightening quick if you do what my daughter and I did - she likes racing me so we run - somehow she always wins. If I wanted easiest access to MK thats where I would stay - its a quick walk...and when you are tired in the afternoon or evening when it counts the most to me you are the first stop...

but from what you had mentioned on another post I got the impression you might be spending time at other parks...so then it becomes a matter of which park you think you will be at the most. If its Epcot or AK, or MGM then there are way better places to stay then on the Monorail loop - my kid is mainly into MK so I am not a good source of advice on the other resorts

We are staying off-site this time. But my sister and I are planning a trip (shhh...just the two of us!) later thie year or next! She is a Disney wizard but I have questions....obviously!!! Thanks for your help! :)

OBNurse--Do you still want an MK resort since it's just you and your sister? If you will be spending much time at Epcot and MGM, you may want to look into resorts near there. The Dolphin has a great nurse's rate. It's $129/night for a Deluxe hotel, usually $320/night. You can walk to Epcot, take a quick boat ride to MGM and the Boardwalk is right there. The bus service to MK was excellent, too. You also can walk through Epcot and catch the Monorail to MK.

The quickest and easiest access to the Mk is staying at the contemporary and walking over.

The monrail ride from the GF to the MK is very quick. The monorail stop is right at the gate. Coming back you can either ride the monorail loop or hop on the small boat back to the GF.

If you're just talking about going to and from MK, then CR has fastest transportation. You walk to MK and take the monorail back (1st stop).

From the Poly: by monorail it is 2nd stop to MK, 3rd stop back (CR, TTC, and then Poly). But, you can walk to TTC from parts of the poly and take express monorail (only stops at TTC and MK) of the ferry. Also, Poly has a boat to MK, but I think it also stops at GF.

From GF: by monorail it is the 1st stop to MK, last stop on way back. But the boat is the first stop back from MK.

HOWEVER, if you're talking about transportation to all parks, I think the Poly is the best monorail resort. Pretty convenient to MK (see above). To Epcot just walk to TTC and take Epcot monorail. It's easier then CR where you take monorail from CR to TTC and then have to switch to Epcot Monorail. To MGM and AK it's buses, like all the other resorts.
