I would like to know which resort is the closest to MGM Studios, and is possible to walk to MGM from the resort? How about via water transportation?

Thanks for your help! :cool1:

You can walk or take a boat from the Boardwalk, BC, and YC. Boardwalk is the closest of the 3. We took the boat from the BC last year.

Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, Beach Club and the Boardwalk Inn are all within walking distance and also you can take the boat.

Closest resorts are the Epcot Resorts, specifically Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach club. Swan is technically the closest (as the crow flys) but all 5
resorts are walking distance (20 - 25 minutes) to MGM and offer boat service as well. If you like walking and the weather is favorable, then the walk is fine.

For the adventurous few, you can also walk from CBR (we've done it). Exit across the lawn by Aruba, across the street via the crosswalk to the firestation.
About a 10 minute walk to the Hess Station, across the road (ecpot resorts blvd. I believe) and down the path, under the bridge and voila. Probably 25 - 30 minutes start to finish

Above posters are correct. However, although you can walk to MGM, I wouldn't advise it. It's an awfully long walk if it's really hot. I'd take the boat.

If you want a value resort, Pop Century is right behind MGM... it takes 2 minutes to get there.

We walked to MGM several times from Boardwalk...found it to be a faster route than taking the boat! (Plus I found out that the Disney boat transportation is not for me because of my seasickness tendencies! the ride left me a little green!)

The Boardwalk is the closest if your room is close to the walkway. The Swan isn't that much further. The walk can get to be a little hot from either resort. There is not much shade.

I agree with Sherri that there is really no shade along the walk. However, I must add that you should not plan on walking if there is any threat of rain. My DS (15) and I started walking from the Boardwalk Inn to the Studios one day in June. Along the way it started to rain so we hurried to get under the overpass. Just as we got close to the overpass it almost stopped raining so we continued our walk. Halfway between the overpass and the Studios entrance it started to pour! We were totally drenched by the time we arrived. Luckily in the Florida heat we dried up quickly.
Check the skies before you start walking!!!!!!!! :flower:
