Closest Resort For WDW Marathon?

First we were thinking of staying at POR for our WDW Marathon Trip, but the idea of riding a bus back to the room with a bunch of other smelly & sweaty folks all crammed into the heat box of a WDW Bus (no offese tyler, but i just know my bus wouldn't have A/C working after the marathon), wasn't really that appealing.
what resort would be easies to get back to after the marathon. i don't really think that walking all the way through epcot to get to the BW area is gonna happen after hiking 26.2 marathon. so that really leaves the monorail resorts, right?

If you are talking about the Marathon taking place at FW, I'd say the FW cabins, the WL or CR. You can take the ferry from FW to either resort. You could also hop on the monorail at the CR and and take it to the Poly or GF.

I did the half marathon this past January and we stayed at the BCV's. The busses from the finish line back to the resorts were fine. Nice and cool- and wonderful to sit on after walking for 13 miles in the heat! You really shouldn't have any problem with a bus, and they should have one for you from the finish line at EPCOT to your EPCOT resort- which ever one you choose.

We've stayed at the GF, the CR, the BCV, and the BWV.

DH won't stay anywhere but a monorail resort for it anymore. The transportation back to the resort AFTER isnt' the issue. It's getting to the start. He waited for over an hour for a bus at the BCV. He waited ON a bus stuck in traffic when we stayed at the BWV and almost missed the start!

Now we stay at a monorail resort, it's by far the easiest way for him to get to the start and me to see him at the half and the finish--and have time for breakfast inbetween!

I had to laugh at your comment about the hot bus...the last 2 years I ran (2003 and 2004) it was colder than normal outside! so a warm bus was not a problem!

2003 was really cold.

2004 was comfortable.

2005 was HOT!

2005 was hot, DS almost dehydrated because Mom packed winter running gear - I packed based on previous races (next year I pack both sets of gear).......and as a specatator riding back to resort with the runners (and that was only the half/marathon runners).........let's just say I was breathing through my mouth
