We will be visiting Vero Beach in May/June. My son (15) would like to rent a wave-runner. We rented a couple of them in Cancun a few years back, and he really enjoyed it. My wife would like to do something Nature related, and I would really like to enjoy some shallow open water without seeing any sharks. (The water ones. I can handle Disney retail!) I would also like information anyone may have on the Deluxe Inn Rooms. We have an Ocean view request. Any suggestions would be appreciated; especially from Vero-Vets.

Watercraft (Jet Skis, Kayaks, etc.) can be rented on the boardwalk near the beach... You can also sign up at Eb & Flo's for kayaking tours, and etc...

For some naturalistic stuff, try the Harbor Branch Oceanagraphic Institute.. Or a "Jungle Boat Tour" at Capt. Hiram's... Try and put yourself in the lottery for a Turtle Nesting walk at night... If you get lucky, you may get picked to watch...

Not sure from your post if he was planning on "driving" one or not but if so, when we were in HH, DS 15 was not allowed to "drive"; he could ride. DH remembers the age being 16. You had to be a certain age which may vary from state to state.

We are going to go on a guided kayak tour of the Indian River. Haven't done it before but have scoped out a couple outfitters.

Thank You lisareniff, Halle, Laxmom, and mbhoxsie. The tour, garden, and institute are perfect for my wife. My son does want to drive, not ride, the jet-ski. I can only hope the rules are different than at Hilton Head. If we were to have the opportunity to see the turtles, the vacation could end the next day and still be a success for all of us. Thanks again.
