Why was the “General safety concern” thread closed?

I think this was a healthy discussion regarding keeping our children safe online and on their cruise.

I was just about to reply to it when I noticed that it was closed.

The post that jfs9900 referred to concerned me too. The first thing I thought was "what are the chances this isn't a child". Too many adults with motives you don't even want to think about are prowling the 'net looking for innocent children. What better place to find them than on a Disney board? And frankly any posting, anywhere that says "Hi I'm a child/teen and I'm looking for someone to talk to email me" should be regarded as suspicious.

If the message had said "We're going on a cruise, will there be other kids there for us to talk to?" then that's different. But soliciting contact is a definite red flag.

It certainly seemed cruise related as many people do meet online and then on the cruise. The mother fredscrapper- or whatever- has added DIS silver sponsor clipart to her sig- strange considering it would go on the tag column normally and also strange considering she has only 4 posts.

I am not saying that these people are other than what they say but it can not hurt to be cautious.

They could be anything from innocent vacation planner, to online predator, to FBI agent- and so could I!

Again, as I posted previously, if you wish to discuss this further feel free to do so on the debate board, or even the community board, but it is not a thread that belongs on the cruise board.
