I think it's fear of low revenue? Keep in mind: the only lobby bars open in the MK resort area during the day are The Wave and Tambu, which is shocking because, yeah, even the average Courtyard Marriott has an all-day lounge. It's even more shocking that flagship resort Grand Floridian has one lounge and it opens at 4 or 5 p.m.

It could be that DW resort lounges have typically not opened until 4 or 5 because they are too expensive to keep open before those hours, i.e. no customers because that is peak park time. :confused3

Hey for those who imbibe, does WL have any signature drinks?

For the most part we will probably have some liquor in the room to have nightcaps on the balcony, but I always look to see if there is something extraordinary at the hotel bars that might be worth trying.

Absolutely loved the Habanero Lime Margarita I had in Artist's Point last November. Yum. Don't think it is exclusive to AP though. I highly recommend it regardless! And they will put it in a plastic cup if you want to take it to your room.

Maybe it's a "decorum" issue? Maybe they don't want liberal access to alcohol at the resorts for the same reason MK was a dry park before BoG started serving, but only at dinner?

There isn't one that I recall, certainly not like the Lapu-Lapu for instance.

That's what I always have at TL, but you're right, it isn't exclusive. The first one I had was at Sci. Fi.

Sure cant wait to apply any future discounts! Annnyway, So excited, anything you WL and CL travelers have any good info for me?

only 347 days to go!!:cool1::yay:

The 19th? Bummer. We are going to be there from 11/11 to 11/17. Looks like we will miss it. I was hoping to see it.

You're not alone in your pain. We'll be there November 14-18. I've never been there at Christmastime before and was so looking forward to seeing that beautiful tree.

I guess it's better to know months ahead of time rather than on the trip itself. I only wish we hadn't already bought plane tickets, else I'd have changed the dates.

Hi everyone, longtime lurker first time poster here. My DH and I are booked for the Lodge 12/6-12/12/14 to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I'm a little concerned about the pool refurb not being finished on time. We really don't care about swimming, but soaking in a hot tub is a must for us. What's the hot tub like at the Villas?

Thanks! :)

Well, now I'm kind of glad that DH got moved to December, he mentioned last night about the Trout Pass Bar and his drink that he gets there. If we had gone in October, he wouldn't be happy.

And I know I had mentioned about getting the military discount because DH has an Active CAC (Common Access Card). I was so worried because some folks were telling me that the CM was wrong and that he wasn't eligible. I called 4 times, and each time they read that DoD with an Active CAC were eligible now. The last call the CM called a supervisor just to be sure and they noted my account.
We just don't qualify for tickets (which is fine because we will have APs for the trip).

The last CM said they had implemented some changes to that discount, so that may be one of them.

Love the lodge so much, and will be glad to be there when no 'enhancements' are planned :)

Is the tree up that early? I thought trees didn't go up until the week of thanksgiving?

Never mind. Didn't realize you were responding to a post that had the date for the tree.

They do have a campfire with marshmallows on the beach. And they do show a nightly movie on the beach, or in the Carolina Pacific Room in the villas in bad weather. But they start at different times. This month's activity calendar shows the campfire starting at 6:45pm and the movie at 8:30pm. It was still light out when we roasted our marshmallows. :)

Does WL have dining room service and if it does do they deliver to the villas (more than pizza)?

Yes, WL has two sit down restaurants. One is family dining (Whispering Canyon Cafe) and the other is fine dining (Artists Point). There is also a quick service restaurant (Roaring Forks). There is room service available 6:30-11:30 am and I believe 4-midnight.
