We are going back to the BWI in January!!!! Was able to get 2 club level rooms with the military rate, husband is retired military. We are going with my son and his family. It has been very hard to get the BWI club rooms with my cast discount, so I figured I would grab these. When cast rates for next year come out I will try for that rate, but am so very happy to be trying CL at my favorite home!!!! We will be there January 23-30!!!!

We're at Boardwalk right now. They have 3 washing machines and 2 dryers on the villas side. We were able to get a washing machine fairly easily but had to wait a couple if hours for a dryer . That was with my dh checking every 15-20 minutes.

In the Inn (on the 3rd floor if I remember correctly) there's several washers and dryers. Seems to me there were 6 each. Never had a problem getting a machine but we tend to go during less busy times.

hi, does anyone know if the deluxe rooms and all the suites will be included in the recent bwi renovation? if so, any pics yet? tia, francie

So excited... I just upgraded our upcoming August trip to BWI, and am loving reading this thread!

I need some advice on what to say on my room request. I have booked a standard room & view. I'd prefer not having a long walk after returning from days at the parks, and have read about the long hallways. BUT, I don't want too much noise near the elevators either, and I'd prefer not to be on the 1st floor.

Thanks!

Hi all, we're checking into a garden suite tomorrow and have been reading this thread non stop! Love it! We booked last minute to celebrate DH's recent promotion in his WDW job, and for our anniversary. Im out of my mind excited! Anyway, I'll report back on whether or not our garden cottage has been renovated. :). Also, let me know if anyone wants photos of anything or has any questions.

DH and I are staying in the garden suites in October - any info you can provide will be great, bc I'm still on the fence :faint: Considering switching to regular CL. Really interested in how annoying the walk from Epcot, to the lounge, to the suites, and the opposite direction, is. Have a great trip!!! :beach:
Thanks!

Hi~

We're seriously considering the Beach Club for our 2015 trip and since it would be our first stay there I'm trying to learn all I can about the resort. Definitely been reading this thread!!
I would love to have a full balcony and a daybed so I'll be sure and request that when we make our reservation.
Just wondering if all the rooms on the 5th floor are Club Level rooms.

Thanks everyone for the great info!!:thumbsup2

Oops wrong thread...
No problem and the answer is YES, but you probably already know that by now.

I know this isn't the DVC thread, but since there are a lot of DVC folks here, I just saw today on the member site they put in a new availability tool. You put in the dates, the size of room, then you can multi-select from all DVC locations. So you can use it to see a studio and pick BWV (of course), BLT, AKL-J and K, BCV, and VWL, and it'll tell you which of them have availability and which views. Very cool.

For those non-DVC, before you had to pick the specific view and then it would tell you if it was available or not and then give one alternative. So even to see all three BWV views you had to check three times. Now you can just select BWV and it'll tell you all three!
Great information for our BWV guests.

Sorry for not putting all this is one post. So the names aren't originals, but it's still a good coincidence. :)

From Jim Korkis:

Nanny Chairs

Placed on either side of the fireplace are the scary "nanny chairs" that were originally found on 19th century European carrousels. They were intended for adults to rest upon while their children rode the moving animals. From this concept developed the more traditional "chariot" benches. It would have been inappropriate for female nannies to even ride side saddle on a carousel horse. These reproductions were cast from circa 1889 originals, hand painted and highlighted with gold leaf. In a moment of cleverness, the two Imagineers involved in the reproductions printed their names on the back of each chair: Todd and Paul.
Thanks for posting the chair history.

Is there anything Jim Korkis doesn't know?? :worship:
:rotfl:
So true and I just love his articles. I always learn something.

Staying in a villa here for the first time. Now I need to go back and read everything.
Congratulations and welcome.

Check out a post that I started before our trip to BWV in October 2013.
Distance from BWV to DHS
:thumbsup2

Hello,

When you are staying at BWI, is there anyway to walk over to the Swan and Dolphins resorts, or do you have to take a bus from HS over?

Thanks

That's great and I'll log your dates.

Yes, all the Deluxe rooms are included in the rehab. I don't have any photos of the newly rehabbed Deluxe rooms, but I saw all the workers in the Garden Cottage Suites last month. They were putting in new furniture and I believe mattresses at the time I saw them. I believe the suites were rehabbed recently (last couple of years?) and the photos I have in the SUITES section of the thread are current. I don't believe the suites are being rehabbed again with this round of rehabs, but I could be wrong.

ETA: Replaced "Deluxe room" with "Garden Cottage Suite."

Wonderful upgrade and congratulations!

Congratulations to DH! We are partial to WDW CMs on this thread;). Maybe you could post some photos if you get a rehabbed cottage? I hope you're having a great celebration.

Hi all! we LOVE the garden suite! Its so comfortable and quite charming! It has been fully rehabbed, yay! All new tile in a nice herringbone pattern in the wet areas, sofa is new and does have a pull out. Here are some photos, forgive the quality, they are from my cell: (we have a dehumidifier in our room, not sure why. We booked on a CM rate so we've come to expect funky things like this ;) )

Thanks!

With our first day done, I would say its SLIGHTLY inconvenient to the lounge. I mean, definitely compared to a standard CL room. Im sure we will be using it less than we would if we were right next to it. Not too much of a bother for us, though, its maybe a 5 minute walk tops! Its hot as hades here right now so its probably much less annoying during nicer parts of the year...lol
Whats weird is that, as far as we have found, is that you have to go up one level then down again to access the BW. There is no direct walkway. (Again, I'm sure someone in this thread will correct me if Im wrong) But the suite itself is really great, really adorable and romantic! :thumbsup2

Thank you for posting your Garden Cottage photos, Christine! I'm going to post a link to them in the GC section. It's great having these new photos for the thread. The dehumidifier makes me wonder if there was some carpet cleaning or other issue that left the carpet wet? Is there any soggy carpeting near the dehumidifier?

Enjoy the rest of your celebration!

I remembered seeing someone post about a dehumidifier in the cottages before, so I did find it in the club thread from back in May.

You need to scroll down the page. They didn't know exactly why the dehumidifier was there, their guess was that it was related to the new auto-shutoff fans in the bathroom, though all the rooms everywhere are getting those with the refurbs.

Glad to contribute! No soggy carpet that we noticed and no funky smells, so, who knows.

Hmm, maybe, though I havent noticed any dampness in the room.

Stini228...thanks for the great photos!

Youre very welcome! :)

When we stayed at BWI in January we spent evenings at the red tables by the water in front of the Bakery. We'd look up at the third floor balconies and say "next year". These are Club Deluxe right? Does booking that category assure you a good Boardwalk view? I'd like to be able to see the MK fireworks. Thanks!

Speaking of Jim Korkis, there was a recent Disney Dining post about the ten best jobs at Disney. I would have put Disney historian into that list.

I am so very much confused lol. I love the Boardwalk area we are planning our next trip and I would love to stay at the Boardwalk. I just want to make sure its the right fit for us. We stayed at the YC CL on our last trip and loved it. But i kept looking across the lake saying Hmmmm that looks like fun over there.

Question. My mom travels with us and she has mobility issues and uses a ECV. Great for her but we still have to foot it lol:scared:

I loved the size of the YC, close access to the boats, buses and lobby. Will I feel lost at BWI? If we request close to the lobby in a room request is that centrally located to everything like the Luna Pool and bus stops? Im confused lol:confused:

4 weeks from today I'll be sitting on the balcony of my (hopefully newly renovated) deluxe room and enjoying the view before heading over to Epcot for some evening fun and dinner at Coral Reef.:goodvibes
