Dallas ISD (along with a majority of other schools in the metroplex) is closed again tomorrow. Our road is still a solid sheet of ice and DH doesn't think we should attempt to drive on it and we've only got a half a roll of toliet paper left in the house for five people to use

It's all Sonja's fault you know. She's the one who was bragging about our 65 degree weather the other day.

Thanks for shutting down all of North Texas, Sonja! ;)

Poor thing. Hope you have some facial tissues around the house :)

Seriously, that ice can be so treacherous. I think it's a good idea that you not drive on it too.

The girls are celebrating, my 11yo DD is at a friends having a sleepover. If it doesn't warm up tomorrow they might just have a week off. They are already scheduled to have Friday off.

TP was one of the items I picked up on the way home Monday so we are covered there.

Sonja did apologize but I quess it wasn't enough!

Lisa - Love your new picture! She looks great!

Got some newspaper lying around????

You might have to resort to that or stop eating:)

Thanks, Jeanette. :)

I guess I shouldn't be laughing too much. We're short on tp too. :)

I have a fear of running out of TP  , so I run out and buy more when we get down to about 3.:p We have plenty right now, wanna borrow some?:D
I guess I better stop bragging about our lovely weather here  !

How much school has been called off? Where I live in Maine we have only had 1 snow day.... but we have had so many days below zero I can't believe it!!

Schools were closed yesterday and again today and possibly tomorrow. They're saying when it gets above freezing later today, whatever ice will melt will just get refrozen tonight. The problems with the trafic today is that the leftever sleet from yesterday, which some people could actually drive over, now has a layer of slick, solid ice on it. There are several patches of "black ice" all over the place and a lot of roads are closed. I forget where it was, but there's this one area that has been jammed since yesterday afternoon! This poor DART bus and 18 wheeler had a collision yesterday afternoon and the bus got stuck in a ditch and the people had to spend the night on that bus and just recently got off! It took two tow trucks to pull that bus out.

Now we're almost out of diapers...I only have 4 left  so DH and I are going to have to try to walk to the store. It's not that far away but we're probably going to be falling on our butts on the way there

Its pretty nasty out there. I30 was shut down this morning because the 18 wheelers couldn't get up the hills. And the road crews had trouble getting out there to sand the road because of all of the big trucks that had pulled off of the road to sit it out. What a mess! You can't get to Dallas from here without going over a long bridge unless you want to go miles and miles out of your way.

My husband just left to go fix a leaking pipe. He'll probably have a lot of those for the next couple of days as we thaw out. He's a plumber by the way.

Wow, the whole Dallas area? My son goes to UNT, and they're really enjoying this weather (amazing how college students see things). They also have school off today, and school was called off yesterday. So the crazy college kids are taking cafeteria trays and sledding with them. Just wait a few more years til they have to drive to a job in this weather!

Not good in Denton where UNT is.
I stayed in a hotel next to my office last night to avoid the drive. I am going home tonight no matter what! I have not seen my husband and kids all week.
I work at 35 and Inwood and traffic is flying outside our office.
I guess I will get another book on tape from our office library before heading home tonight. Love those things!

I have plenty of TP and some diapers left over from recent visitors.

If you can put on your ice skates and get here they're yours!! :p :p :p :p

Well, there is at least one happy Texan here.

I am <size=8>loving</size> this weather, of course, I don't have to drive anywhere today. I think it's great to look outside a see white!!! I just wish it were snow, so I can go outside and play and make snow angels.

Well, DH and I walked up to the closest store (Eckard) and man was it hard! We slipped and slid the whole way up there. Then when we got there we couldn't get across the parking lot to the door! We just kept sliding backwards. I'm sure it was a funny sight to see. We eventually made it to the doors though and went in to get some TP, diapers and some milk (we were going to get bread but they didn't have any). Well, I took a backpack to carry the stuff back home in, which caused some troubles for me. Since the diapers didn't fit in my bag, I was carrying them in one hand and I had my other hand in my pocket. Well, I ended up hitting a slick spot and I fell flat on my face! I couldn't get my hand out of my pocket quick enough, and no, the diapers didn't break my fall. I busted my head open right above my eye brow. DH and I both laughed at me but once I got up I was in pain. So, we have diapers and TP now, but now I also have a concusion.

I'm 3 hours away from DFW and it's just as bad.It actually lceared up enough to finally leave the house(I went to the libray for videos and dvd's) but TX schools sometimes freak over ice all the time(my night class got called off for the rest of the week btw)
