Hello friends. Just 4 weeks from now my fiance and I will be husband and wife, and honeymooning at the Villas at Grand Californian. We MAY induldge at a couples massage at Mandara Spa there at the Grand, but wow-eee BIG price tag.

Can anyone recommend a nearby day spa that might not set us back a few mortgage payments?

Thank you in advance.

Check out the Spa near the South Coast Plaza.

You will have to do a google search (it looks like it's called "The Spa and Fitness Club") because I haven't posted more than 10 times on this forum, I don't get to post links.

I have never been myself but one of my friends from work really likes it. They have good package deals and it is just a short drive away (Costa Mesa).

Forgot to mention, according to their website, all packages include gratuity and valet parking!

I lived in Newport Beach before moving to San Diego and always went to Spa Gregorie's At Fashion Island! Great spa services! :goodvibes

Glen Ivy is at the Brea Mall. Not sure how good it is, but its close to DLR.

Thank you all so much, this really helps. Keep em coming...

For those that have been to Mandara,... is it realy worth it?

There is a Burke-Williams at the Block at Orange (about 10 minutes from Disneyland), which is very nice.

That said, The Mandara is pretty special. I don't know if you have ever been to a spa at an upscale hotel, but they are typical a notch above. The Mandara is no exception. When on vacation, I like to splurge for that "something special." You may want to do the same for some extra Disney memories.

I really like it there. My daughter and I go there for our eyebrows. It's gorgeous inside. Just incredible how tranquil it is being steps from an amusement park. I'm part of the "You get what you pay for" crowd.

i want to someday( i can dream) get a massage there(@mandara).....someday though

My opinion on the Mandara Spa....I have been to several spa's (kind of a massage junkie), some at upscale hotels and some not, and if I were to rate the Mandara I would probably give it 8 out of 10, 10 for proximity and the feeling of awe after being in the parks, 8 for actual services and probably a 7 for actual size and amenities offered. The price on a massage always makes me think twice about doing it but then again I am on vacation.....

At my favorite spa, I usually get a mani or pedi and can use the amazing locker rooms - shower, steam rooms, hot tubs, etc. Is that the case at the Mandara? I looked on their site (at the OP's prompting, gee thanks...) and could not see if salon services entitle one to the entire spa.

PP, do you know? I don't want to just presume.

Thanks!

I used to do Burke Williams on a regular basis and they can provide the amenities you are looking for in locker room and such, but their prices are closer to Mandara than you think. If you aren't bringing your own car, then settle for the Mandara. Their services are very high quality (in product choice and such), although the Disney facility is a smaller and simpler one than its Vegas or Orlando counterparts.

I know nothing about spas, but DW told me to mention Glen Ivy Day Spa in Brea. Here's a link to their site if you want to compare prices to Mandara. It's located off the 57 freeway, about 15-20 minutes north of DLR. I've heard good things from others, but don't have any personal experiences to share. Have a good trip.

My wife and kids love the Mandara Spa and to them it is worth it. You hopefully will have only one honeymoon and the experiences together(unless you are like me), can you put a price on those experiences?

Mandara is really nice. If you are a Costco member, you can buy SpaFinder gift certificates at 20% off ($79.99 for $100 worth) and use them at Mandara. I did this myself last week.
