DH and I (not fussy eaters, both waaayyy over 21) spent 5 days on the DDP (sorry I didn't get pictures). We ate at:

TS
Raglan Road
50s Prime Time Cafe
Boma
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Tutto Italia

CS
Sunshine Seasons
Earl of Sandwich
Flame Tree BBQ
Columbia Harbor House
Boulangerie Patisserie

By and large, I have to say that we were well pleased with the food and service. I think that taking the tip out of the cost of the DDP was a good thing; all of our servers were pleasant and attentive. All of our TS food was good and sometimes great. I do wish Disney would offer either appetizers or dessert on the DDP, though.

Day One

Based on DIS reviews, we decided our first lunch would be at Sunshine Seasons. I can say that the value here on the DDP is terrific. DH had the 1/2 chicken w/mashed potatoes and carrots; I had the pork chop w/same sides. We both agreed that the chicken was the clear winner here. I found the chop to be dry and tough (of all the meals we had, this was definitely my worst), but the chicken was moist and tasty. We both liked our bakery desserts (brownie and fruit tart).

Dinner was at Raglan Road in DTD. This was our first time here and we had seen some very mixed reviews, especially regarding the service. We got there early and decided to have a pint (or two or three :woohoo: ) before dinner. We sat at the bar and started talking with Angel  , who was TCOB behind the bar. She was delightful and very helpful, so we decided to just eat at the bar. She suggested It's Not Bleedin' Chowder and Paddy's Pork, which we ordered. All I have to say is that if you like seafood, do not miss It's Not Bleedin' Chowder. Wow, it was delicious! The pork was good; it was stuffed with freshly made sausage, which was very tasty. The Unchowder was the taste winner here, though. And, yes, the bread pudding is every bit as yummy as we were told, but be warned: it is large and rich. DH had the apple pie, which he said was good, but wished he'd had the pudding as well.

All in all, we'd return here and probably both get INBC and bread pudding ;) .

I'll return later with more if anyone is interested. Also, don't hesitate to ask if you have questions.

Thanks for reading!

I too loved raglan!!!:drinking1 Mmmmm Guiness It looks like we ate at some of the same places.
Did you like Boma? My dad loved it lots of new things i've never tried before.
50's prime Time is on our agenda as well for this time around.
i have to ask how the food was at whispering canyon??

Yes ... come back for more reviews. I like your descriptions and am interested in the places you ate at! :thumbsup2

A good friend of mine had the Seafood Chowder also and she LOVED it! It's on my list of things to try.:thumbsup2

Great start! We are planning to eat at 3 of the CS you have listed, so I can't wait to read more!

Agree totally about the IMBC! I shouldn't have read this post near dinnertime; now I won't be happy with anything but that! LOL

Thanks to all of you for reading and for all of your kind comments. Here come days 2 and 3.

Day Two

Since we'd gotten up at 4 the previous am to make our flight, we decided to sleep in on Monday; this was a decision made easier by the fact that we haven't found anywhere in DHS that we like for CS. (Last trip we ate "burgers" at Rosie's; wow, they made McD's taste like gourmet food...and that's just scary!) Since we stayed at SSR, we took the boat over to DTD and had lunch at Earl of Sandwich. I had the 1762 and DH had the ham and swiss. They were delicious (so much so that we went back for lunch on Friday). That roast beef on my sammy was tender, moist, and tasty. Yum, wish I had one right now! Be aware, though, that you may have to wait a while for service; it's a pretty popular place, and given the quality of the food for the price, it's quite the Disney bargain ;) .

Dinner was at the 50s PTC. We had Cousin Jimmy taking care of us and he was terrific: playful yet attentive. DH had the meatloaf; I had the pot roast. While DH really liked the meatloaf, the pot roast was the clear winner here. It was sooooo tender you almost didn't need teeth! We both had the brownie sundae for dessert, the only difference is that I only got the ice cream on mine, while DH got the whole works (includes whipped cream, M&Ms, caramel corn, kitchen sink, you get the idea). I told Jimmy I had the "diet" dessert :rolleyes1 .

Day Three

Since we spent the day at AK, we lunched at Flame Tree BBQ. We ate so early (in anticipation of a large, early dinner at Boma) that we practically had the place to ourselves. We ordered the 1/2 chicken and the ribs and sat by one of the beautiful reflecting pools in the back (with the ducks who pecked at our legs...just say "no" to the ducks). Both were good and there was plenty of food. We actually ended up taking the corn muffins back to the room for breakfast the next am.

Late afternoon found us at what was, for me, the most anticipated meal of the trip: Boma. Happily, we were not disappointed at all. Truth be told, I would have been completely content if I'd only been allowed to have the soups and stews. Wonderful stuff!!! :worship: The butternut squash and seafood curry soups were outstanding, and DH snarffed down enough lamb stew for an army. (I need to check out the recipe thread to see if they have those recipes!) Our server was Amy, and she was friendly and attentive, as well as helpful with her advice on the dishes. Since DH was full to bursting with lamb stew, it was up to me to have dessert (hey, somebody had to do it). The much-praised zebra domes were fine, but, to be honest, I was actually happier with the fresh pineapple.

My apologies for the lack of descriptions of the other foods. I was so obsessed by the soups that everything else kind of came in a distant second, although the bobotie did stand out, too.

I will make one comment on the food for those who have never tried Boma. I found that many of the dishes combine both sweet and savory flavors, so you will find combinations of tastes that may not be familiar, such as meat and cinnamon. (Some other cuisines, e.g. Greek, use similar types of blends.) We found it very tasty, but I know at least one of my daughters would have run screaming in the other direction ;) .

We will definitely return here.

It's getting late, so I will try to finish this tomorrow.

(Disney_rider, short answer: WCC's skillet, which is what we both had, is good, plain, and plentiful. More tomorrow.)

Raglan Road remains one of our favorite places to have dinner - we love the music and have always had good food and service.

And I would like to commend you for your bold use of the word "yummy" in your thread title! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to reading more. :goodvibes

Hey, Brenda (or is that Benda??)! Yup, the use of yummy was done with you in mind (plus it was pretty darn accurate). Just wish I had your way with witticisms. :worship:

Day Four

We spent the day at the MK and decided on Columbia Harbor House for lunch. We generally share meals and opted for the fish (w/apple slices instead of chips--weird, I know, but we were trying to have some kind of healthy food thrown in) and, per DH, anything but the hummus. So, having been clearly told not to get the hummus, I ordered the hummus :upsidedow (no, it was not intentional; I ordered by the sandwich name, "Lighthouse," and meant to order the tuna, "Anchors Aweigh"--yes, this may be early-onset dementia :scared: ). My DH, being the wonderful, sweet man that he is, shared the hummus sandwich with me anyway  . The fish was really good (I have to eat mine the British way: covered w/malt vinegar, mmmmm); the sandwich was OK. We had the apple crisp desserts, which were very good for a CS dessert, but not crisp.

We'd go back there, and I would try NOT to order the hummus. Again.

For dinner we took the boat to Wilderness Lodge and ate at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. For anyone not familiar with WCC, do not be deceived by the name; it is one of the least "whispering" places I can think of. If you're looking for a quiet meal, stay away. If, however, you like playful people doing silly things, this may be the place for you. DH and I both ordered the skillet, which includes chicken, shrimp, pulled pork, ribs, beans, corn, and salad. The food is not fancy and definitely aims at the carnivore in you. We enjoyed the salad, which was followed by cornbread (delicious!) and meat, meat, and some more meat. My only complaint is that the meat can be a little greasy (OK, the pulled pork was a lot greasy, but tender and tasty, too). Also, if you are a big eater, this is an all-you-want order.

Our server was called Lazy Susan, but, really the name didn't fit her at all, and after she poured our beers out, one bottle in each hand, I started calling her Two-Fisted Sue. Much better. We really enjoyed watching the kids parading and running around with the ketchup bottles (one little guy was guided to a table by his mom and crying "now WE don't have any ketchup").

We will return since DH really likes this place (which is very funny to me since he generally hates audience participation kinds of things).

Day Five

This was our full Epcot day and we opted for lunch at Boulangerie Patisserie. We both got the ham and cheese quiche, which was very good (oddly enough, the girl behind the counter wanted to know if we wanted them warmed--uh, that would be yes! Do people actually eat quiche cold? Of course there's a whole population that likes cold pizza, so I guess cold quiche is eaten, but not by me.). For dessert I had a napoleon and my DH had, would you believe, another apple tart (with him, it's apple something or brownies). I actually liked my quiche more. That was a major surprise for me 'cause I'm all about custard.

Later that day, we made our way to Tutto Italia. I had high hopes for this meal since I had read such good things on the boards (yay for the DIS boards, source of much valuable info :worship: ).

Our server, Alessandro, brought us some bread, olive oil, and a small tray with veggies and dip. DH ordered a bottle of wine for Valentine's Day, and then we ordered dinner. DH got the lasagna and I chose the tagliatelle egg pasta w/meat sauce. Unfortunately, I didn't taste his dish because I was too engrossed in devouring my own, which I found very yummy. DH said his was good, but he liked mine better (I'm 5'2", he's 6'4"; you can probably guess he gets to share a lot of my plates ;) ).

At Alessandro's suggestion, for dessert he had the Copetta Sotto Bosco (I made him let me order that 'cause it's such fun to say :cutie: ); it was gone, baby, gone. I had the profiteroles, again guided by Alessandro. They too had a very short life on earth. Delicious!

Altogether this was a very enjoyable dinner: great food and great service in a lovely setting. I would certainly go back based on this experience.

Benda, bendy, hey you ... I respond to just about anything these days. ;)

I'm honored that you Yummied with me in mind ... but I'm more pleased to know that all your dining experiences were yummy. :thumbsup2

Witticisms ... me? You're too kind but thank you. :goodvibes

And now ... back to the food!

You got a giggle out of me with your description of your profiteroles short life on this earth ! Totally enjoying your Yummy reviews !

Thanks Brenda and Leslie for your very kind words. One of the things I love about the boards is being able to reach out to other DISers w/similar interests (food porn, give me more food porn).

Unfortunately, the only other food I have to report on was what we ate on Friday (these two meals were OOP since we had used all of our DDP credits). For lunch it was back at EOS at DTD. Again, we had delicious sammies; I had the BLT and my husband had ham and cheese again. We're definitely going back there (the 1762 for me next time)!

Before catching ME for MCO  , we had soup and flatbreads at Artist's Point (SSR). If you have the opportunity and you like soup (you can probably tell from my Boma review that I love soup), try the tomato bisque there. It was *really* good. DH had the pepperoni flatbread, while I had the spinach and chicken flatbread. I didn't really like the sauce on his, but mine was pretty good. (OK, what is it about Disney and pizza sauce??)

All in all, we were happy with our food and our restaurant choices. Now to figure out where our next ADRs should be ;) .

Please feel free to ask any questions you might have and thanks again for reading :goodvibes .
