:thumbsup2 Trip will be booked tomorrow for Aug 22-29th

We would really like to spend an afternoon on a nearby beach just sightseeing, taking some pictures etc. We "HOPEFULLY" will be staying at the HoJo. What is close for beaches, without a car how would we get there? Any shuttles? Which beach would you recommend. Seeing the ocean is big for us since we live on the Canadian Prairies with not an ocean in sight :rotfl:

I'm so excited I am even dreaming Disney!!! This is the first time for all of us. :cloud9:

You may want to rent a car for a day and drive straight down Harbor Blvd. to Newport Beach. It's about a 25 mins dirve to the beautiful beach area and some shopping. Not sure about shuttles but tehre is a great public transportation systen in Anaheim area and I bet it goes to the beach. Hopefully some else can answer that one. Hope you enjoy!

It's not exactly near DLR, but the Santa Monica Boardwalk and Venice Beach are must sees. The people watching alone is worth the visit.

I second the car rental thing. There's plenty of car rental companies in the resort area that you can walk to from the HoJo. The OCTA bus down Harbor is a very long bus ride.

If you go by car, Take 5 South, to 55 south. The 55 ends at roughly the same place as if you'd gone straight down Harbor and they turn into the same street leading down to Newport. You have a few choices at that point.

1) Continue down that street for a few miles and try to find parking where you see the Beach Access signs.
2) Continue for a few miles until you get to Highway 1 (PCH/Pacific Coast Highway) and go South towards Downtown Newport Beach followed by Laguna Beach.
3) Take Highway 1 North towards Huntington Beach.

Personally, I'd go towards Huntington Beach and have lunch at Ruby's Diner on the Pier.
