Here is what I sent. I encourage all of you to do so also so that they answer:

I saw Yavn Speaeth, but I still have a question. Yavn stated that you cannot use another program to play VMK. There is a program called VMK Pal. It does not modify the game in any way. A friend of mine took it apart and did not find that it sent any information to the internet. All it does is manage your codes (stores them for future use), it has a chat manager (single key talking, 5 second delay between uses), a camera to screenshot the VMK screen with a click, and a calendar. It accesses the website on VMK.com that allows you to log in. THERE IS NO PART OF IT THAT SENDS INFO OUT. Is this software going to get me banned?

I've used VMK Pal for a while now and I don't think it is doing any of the things Yavn said were against VMK Values, like creating codes or cheating in minigames. I don't even store my password in it, all I really use it for is accessing VMK quickly from my desktop and taking full-screen pictures. I'm waiting to see what you get back from VMK.

I know what they will answer. pretty much what they wrote word for word. They will not endorse vmk pal. This has come up in the past, this is not really a new subject.

The reason VMK does not endorse VMKPal is because it's not owned by Disney or Sulake, the creators of VMK. It was created by a player, Carioca, I believe. Yavn has stated in the past that he does not agree with players using VMKPal. I know many players who use VMKPal and have had no repercussions from VMK. In other words, use it at your own risk.

It's like using Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Netscape as your browser to play VMK- although that is somewhat different.
- I am pretty sure they can not tell if you are using VMKPal or any other specific browser at that ALSO I don't think this is what Yavn was even refering to.


From my point of view and how I took in that section of the newsletter it seemed that yavn was refering to the use of Code Generators or other programs that would "cheat" the game. This is what happened in the past and people were banned for having generators that give codes from games at bulk within minutes.
- I would advise to not do this!


All and All.. I say that VMKPal is not going to hurt anybody or anything.
If you Use it then Use it.. If you Dont then Dont and move on either way

This may be true as of now, but it wasn't always so. When VMKPal was first created, one of its features was the quick chat, which used shortkeys. We know now that this is not acceptable to vmk and Carioca removed it, I believe. Another feature was faster entering of codes, again same principal.
There is a Q&A session with Yavn posted on another fan site that quotes him as saying VMKPal is against VMK values. I won't post a link here, as I don't know if it's allowed or not, but just to clarify, Yavn DID say VMKPal was not something players should be using. I searched this site for more info, but we all know how wonderful the new search engine is here...

I wouldn't sweat it, personally. It's a browser. I think it's kind of the same as preferring IE over Firefox., or vice versa. Besides, what exactly is the "official" software that we're all being expected to use? Netscape? Lord, I hope not!

VMK Pal is a browser. They really can't tell us which browser to use (and I don't know why they'd even care, as long as we're playing honestly and legitimately without using any cheats). From what I can see, Carioca tries pretty hard to stay within values. I think that all Yavn was probably saying was that VMK does not officially endorse the use of VMK Pal to play the game, yadda yadda please-don't-sue-us-if-anything-goes-wrong-official-partyline stance. He probably had to say that to legally protect Disney and VMK from liability for a program that they didn't create and don't want to officially associate themselves with or have to provide support for.

To me, it is also just skin...or a simpler game interface. I don' think there is any real feature on there that violates vmk rules etc. If anything, I wish Disney took a hint from Pal and made some similar adjustments to playing the game within their web site.

actually, to correct some of the misnomers in this thread. They most certainly CAN tell which browser you are using. VMKPal, as mentioned before, is merely a skin for Internet Explorer running in kiosk mode. They cannot tell if you are using it or not. Kind of like his little white lie about being able to tell if you do an end around in the mini-games. They can not tell, what they can tell is if one particular IP address was issued how many codes in a period of time. THAT is how they "tell" if someone has been using a backdoor to get codes.

ok if I only use vmk as a browser is that wrong. Any download the other VMK communicator. and useing it as a brower is wrong? how can that effect the game?

Well.... I just figured out that I can change the VMK Pal skin to PINK! No way I'm giving it up now

Seriously though, I can't believe anyone would be banned permanently for using VMK Pal, when all the scammers and rude people are able to walk free every day in the Kingdom. Ok, poor logic, but it feels good to say it...
