Cliques

It's mostly on SPPF, the shipping section specifically. There are a few shippers that are well-liked by pretty much everyone, but they generally like non-mainstream ships as a rule. There are really two main categories of members there: people who support mostly popular ships (e.g., mainstream, het, and canon), and people who support more uncommon ships, or the opposite of what the mainstream-shippers like. I'm tempted to liken the situation to Mac vs. PC; there are the ordinary, boring PC users (mainstream shippers), and the hip, intelligent Mac users (non-mainstream shippers). Now, the maintream shippers are a large, confident group and they're generally well liked because they're just such a big, popular way of thinking, and they have their own cliques (Contestshippers, Pokeshippers), and the smaller amount of non-maintream shippers just seem 'better' somehow. I fall in the middle. My main OTP, the one I love most and am well known for supporting, is mainstream, and almost none of my others are. I don't support too many ships overall, but somehow all the ones I like conflict with the OTPs of the people everyone likes. I don't like Contestshipping too much, but it's far and away the most popular shipping on the site (it was for a while, anyway), but I like Rocketshipping, which happens to clash with the often favoured Kokoshipping, Blueshipping, or Yamushipping- all of the more popular opposing non-mainstream ships. So I don't fit well with the big group, and don't fit well with the smaller group, and that's not even considering the Pokemon x Pokemon and Pokemon x Human ships. :\

Call me crazy, because I honestly can't believe I take the fanbase this seriously, but I really liked posting in some threads and just don't feel like my opinion would be very welcome. Heck, I could be misreading things altogether, but thats really how it seems to me most of the time.

Wut? That has nothing to do with fashions!

Are we talking clique like stereotype, or clique like group that doesn't accept others? My school really doesn't have the groups, but we have stereotypes. I'm not sure if I can be stereotyped, but my best friends are everything from goth to preppy. I can't think of any of them that shun others.

Um, the title of the thread says 'Cliques'. And I don't suppose any of the members there exclude people on purpose, but I just have a really hard time fitting in there.

(And btw, this is what happens when you don't have a real life. :sad2:)

I don't understand Pokemon, so that made no sense, but Uhmmm I think I know what you're getting at?

I know this sounds weird but I am in a clique and I personally hate them. I wish people could talk to others with out being judged by their friends and others.

In elementary school I was THE queen bee. I was the head of the "popular clique" I was like an 11 year old verions of Regina from mean girls (except not as....evil)

Middle School, everything changed, I went to a different middle school than my elementary school friends, so I had to make new friends. I was in no way the queen bee anymore. I was in a clique of 4 girls, we were like best friends! And then we had a big fight, and we all just drifted. I was friend with the "popular kids" but I wasn't actaully IN the clique.

High School, I was a MAJOR drifter. I fit in with mostly every "clique" and I could virtually hang out with anyone I wanted to.
I was just....all over the map. And it had nothing to do with the way I dressed, or the way I acted. I was just myself, and I was just nice to everyone and hung out with whoever.
We don't really have stereotypical groups, except the drama kids, band kids & popular kids.
everyone else didn't really fit into a "category", they were just....groups of friends.

I have one best friend who is my ultra best friend and i love him to death, and i brought him wherever i went. hehehe.

my boyfriend is only like...only the popular clique though...so when I hung out with him I had to stay with them. :upsidedow

I don't really see there being many cliques in university though....i shall soon find out.

The bolded part is the same.

The bolded part is the same.

yeah...but it turned out that everybody really didn't like me that much.
i meane veryone was nice to me and stuff...but once i left i found out from some of my REAL friend that alot of people that were also in the "popular group" really didn't like me at all. even though i thought all they did.

I just have a group of friends and we all hang out and have fun. I guess you could call us "popular". We're well known in the school, but my school is fairly small, so everyone kind of knows everyone. We're all nice to everyone and always accept new comers to our group. There is a group of girls who are really mean who are "popular" as well. That's definitely a clique though, because you have to be sort of invited to join that clique. It's all backstabbing and stuff, not fun. I'm friends with one of the girls in there and she left the group last year to join ours. It was uuuggglllyy!

I have friends all over the school, from younger kids, to my age, "band geeks" to "populars". As long as I have a good time with you and we have stuff in common, I'm friends with you. That's the way I work.

I'm not really in a clique. I get along with everybody. I'm mostly friends with people in the preppish/popular clique, so I'm kind of in that.

I hate cliches. i was bullied in elem school by cliches and it was horrid. then i switched to a charter held at a school sans cliches and it was so awesome and different. i had friends and felt accepted. in high school there are a lot of cliches but i just avoid them they can only cause problems.

Like Caitlin, When I was in elementry school I was the Queen Bee, The Popular Girl, Everyone's Friend, whatever. Then one day my boyfriend dumped me and I lost it all! I wasn't popular because of him or anything but it was just weird that it all happened like that because even before we were together, I was popular. That happened my last year of elementry school. I don't think I spelled elementry right LOL but whatever haha. Kind of sucked not being "idolized", but it was okay not having to impress people..

Then I got to Middle School. I'm in a well-known group of girls clique. We are close to the Popular group but we're not head of school...but we're close LOL. But the difference is from other stereotypes of popular cliques is we love everyone haha.

In middle school I was in the popular clique. Some of the worst three years of my life. Not an exaggeration.

My highschool has groups, but they're not stereotyped by "jocks" "emos" "artists" or anything like that. We have groups of people who usually hang out with one another, but generally everyone meshes.

Generally being the key word.

Yeah, I have been in cliques before and its totally not cool. Nothing gets accomplished except for making some girls cry because they were not cool enough...Man, I wish they would never exist.

I'm not in a clique.

I like to hang out with different people. But ATM I only have like 2 or 3 friends.

Im not popular because all those people do bad bad stuff. But I like being me and I dont want to join the gossip group because thats kinda rude.

I totally agree with this.

The main reason most people don't like me is because sometimes I can go to extremes to prove someone I don't like wrong. And I've always been right.

But I went through my yearbook, counting the people I dislike, and it only came to 42. Compared to my friend's 107, that's pretty good :rotfl: !

am i ... uhmmm idk on a stage there are in my grade
strange ppl - about 30 %
medium ppl - 50 %
and me and my friends -20 %ppl its not that we dont let ppl chill wit us its that they arnt like us and its like we dont make fun of them so ya its all good
